Green Salad with light mustard vinegrette and poach egg |
This is my second visit to Tradition by Pascal in about 10+ years. The first time I was not very impressed with the cuisine. I have not been back since, writing off the restaurant as a NO in my eating book. A few gal pals and I dined at Tradition by Pacal the other day, taking an advantage of Newport Restaurant Week. I was surprised at the food; every course was just deliciously prepared. Why did I think it was bad before??

All the dishes were well prepared, and service was prompt and professional. I am sad to find out the restaurant is closing on Feb. 15, 2012 after 24 years in business. I will make a point to visit the place one more time before the closing.

Let me ask this, do you give 2nd chances to restaurants if you have a bad experience the first time around? Or are you like me, writing the place off after one trying?
Mhmmmmm...yummy, yummy and yummy!

Amazingly delicious post, darling!
ReplyDeleteI love salads with poached eggs!

It depends on what the bad experience was. If it was customer service and it's been awhile maybe. If the food made me sick or didn't taste good, probably not.
ReplyDeleteMmmmm ... Salad. And dessert. I could go for this entire meal right now.

I agree with Krysten, it depends how bad my first experience was or what exactly made it so bad. Anyway, these images look so delicious!
ReplyDeleteit all depends, but i tend to give 2nd chances most of time!
ReplyDeleteLooks delish, SG!
the food looks healthy and delicious!!
ReplyDeleteyummy food.
ReplyDeleteyumm I LOVEEE runny egg yolk on ANYTHING! it makes anything 100 times better!
ReplyDeleteI usually don't like egg yolk in any form but on this salad, it was great.
DeleteAll the dishes look delicious.
ReplyDeleteIt is such a shame the economy is driving many small businesses into closing.
ReplyDeleteI think the owner wanted to focus his other ventures. Although I agree, many smaller businesses are suffering right now.
DeleteHumm but maybe it was worse before!! Right now everything looks delicious, if I can say so by just looking at the pics :)
ReplyDeleteSounds delish! I usually write a place off if I'm unimpressed the first time. But sometimes it's good to give it another shot, I guess :)
ReplyDeleteThis post just made me so hungry!

I am glad you went back but it's sad to hear the restaurant is closing. I've given restaurants a 2nd try but they've never redeemed themselves! I'm excited for our Restaurant Week in Chicago, it's later this month!
ReplyDeleteWow! Everything looks so incredible - I want to taste it all! :)
ReplyDeleteYum, the food looks great in your pictures and the presentation is beautiful! I'm usually swayed not to try a restaurant again if the food really sucked, but at the same time I don't think I'd care enough in most cases to make a big deal out of it if someone wanted to go.
ReplyDeleteI usually don't try a place again but if it's good, why not?!

I want that salad.
ReplyDeleteLove Grace.
omg, now I"m starving!!
ReplyDeleteThe food looks good! I usually don't give them a second chance. If so it's years later. HAHAHA I hate to see places close. But if they're good one minute and not the next there is definitely inconsistency.
