Maxi Dress, Part II

There must be a maxi dress fairy looking after me this summer. Within one month, I found 2 maxi dresses and both combined cost me about $100. Well, this is a lesson learned from years of shopping triumph and mishap. Anyhoo, When I shop I won't shop aimlessly; there is almost always something in mind. For moi, maxi dresses offer easy style in the summer which transition quite well into fall. With the right dress, a gal will look taller and leaner. With my petite frame, I tend to avoid dresses with too much volume, opting for fitted top and straight skirt.  It is so easy to look short and pregnant when I don't have the height to carry such a dress. To complete the look, a simple necklace and/or bracelet will suffice as the dress is so busy already.
Of course, as I am only about 5'4", I found myself a pair of stylish wedge in brown this summer to wear with my maxi dresses and other outfits.  To me, espresso brown is the new black in summer. Black is too dark for bright summer days. Gal pals told me I looked taller and my whole frame elongated because of the dress and the added 3.75 inch of heel height.Anyhoo, I found this maxi dress at Saks outlet by chance for about $60 after further discount and I love it. Don't we all just love coupons.... ~Smile. Anyhoo, do you like maxi dresses and how do you like to wear yours?

What I am Wearing: Maxi dress, Romeo & Juliet --- I really like dresses by this company. Wedge by Castaner. Jewelry all by me at Shop Savvy Mode.

  4. I am a new fan of maxis. I almost bought my 4th one yesterday, but I don't really feel comfortable wearing them to work, and I like to spend money on dresses that I can wear to work.

  11. Fabulous dress...and what do you mean "only" 5'4"? I'm 5'4" and consider myself plenty tall. Always follow the attitude of Elizabeth I when it comes to height: http://wendybrandes.com/blog/2007/10/where-be-your-gibes-now/

  14. This is beautiful you, I like the McQueen-ish print. It's good to see petite gals not be afraid of the longer length, they just have to do as you did and find one with a higher/empire waist with a streamlined shape. I love maxi dresses/skirts, I wear them all the time.
