La Mer Cleansing Fluid

As an avid La Mer fan, I was rather happy to learn about a new product but slightly disappointed at the same time. There was nothing wrong with how the product worked. In fact it worked perfectly fine removing makeup and stubborn waterproof mascara. Rather, I was taken aback when I initially took a sniff of the fluid. It reminded me of my oil point remover. Well, this really gives a new meaning to removing "War Paint", aka my daily makeup. With other La Mer products, I will say the scent can usually be described as pleasant, organic, or fresh. Well, this one sure is the exception. I asked other gal pals and they all agreed about the unpleasant scent. Although I like the product, I am not sure I want my makeup remover to smell like oil point remover/thinner. It is just unsavvy. Do you have a good oil base makeup remover to recommend?

  1. I've tried lots of make up removers over time, but my favorite is actually Neutragena's cleansing cream. It is the cheapest skin care product I use, but it's also an absolute best when it comes to removing make up from my skin. But it seems to me it's been discontinued as I can't find it anywhere lately :( Don't you just hate it when your fav. products get discontinued? lol

  2. That sucks about the smell of it; I actually don't really use any specific make up remover - I just use baby wipes & works just as well!

  4. I will thank heaven the day I can afford La Mer. I want their eye cream SO BAD. And if I have a ton of money one day, I will buy this remover as well. :P

  6. I got a bottle of neutrogena makeup remover which worked alright. It was able to remove waterproof mascara after a little gentle rubbing. Make sure to be gentle with area around eyes.

  7. Paint thinner? Perhaps it is a faulty product? I would return it.
Although I love my La Mer cream, I don't use the other products. One day I will try the eye cream.

the oil cleanser I use is Kose Softymo White Cleansing Oil, I first tried it in Japan after my friend was strongly recommending it and now I order it through ebay. Really soft on the skin, but strong with the mascara, with a lovely orange smell.

  8. I used Kose product before and it cleaned really well. I should perhaps look for that again. : )
