The other night, on a girls' night out, gal pals traded online dating stories which were funny to listeners but not so funny for the person involved. Well it is always a comedy for others while a tragedy for the person. Personally I think it is fabulous to have additional venues to find love instead of waiting for introductions from friends and family. And trust me, sometimes I rather take my chances online because at least I am looking for what I want/need instead of what others think I need. Despite my positive attitude toward online dating, all the gals wished some of these guys would take Online Dating 101 first.
What does that mean? Well I am sure for those gals who had ventured into online dating would get a chuckle or two out of this:
1. Please have a good profile picture, do not take a picture in the bathroom mirror. It is just not flattering for anyone. In fact, some of these guys look rather scary. Within the first 6 seconds, we will make an impression on others.
2. Please do not use an old picture from years ago.
3. Please do not lie about height and age. Yes, I found out from gal pal men lie about their age too in order to meet a certain age bracket of gals. Ahem..... So how do they plan on explaining that away? The example I heard was the guy was in his late 40's but his profile stated late 30's. Hello, that's a whole 10 year gap.
4. Please do allow the woman to set the pace.
So gals, what else do you think guys should do to become more successful online dating or just dating in general?

ReplyDeleteurgh i cant tolerate bathroom pics as profile pics too! i think fb is safer than online dating sites, coz in fb, u are somehow connected to someone and all the truth will be out!
