The best thing about having lunch with girl friends is show and tell time, just like in school. Gal pal recently got a new jewel candy in way of natural blue sapphire, non-heated, surrounded by little sprinkles of diamond. With Kate Middleton getting a sapphire for an engagement ring, this beautiful stone is the current rage. I have received smaller pieces from Savvy Mom, but after wearing this ring over lunch, I am looking at sapphire with a new perspective. Diamond may sparkle more but sapphire has this quiet elegance.
Doesn't it just look perfect on my hand? Now this savvy gal just need to find a prince..... ~Smile. Would you want a tradition diamond as an engagement ring or something different?

That's such a gorgeous ring!!! ^^
ReplyDeleteAck, love, love it! I have a pink sapphire engagement rin and can tell you that colored stones are the way to go!
ReplyDeleteThat's pretty. I love sapphires...it's my birth month stone too!
ReplyDeleteYou're right though, I'm sure we're going to see tons of brides now with Sapphires due to the royal wedding!
I wear a traditional diamond ring and band but I also wear a sapphire on my right hand, though it's not quite that brilliant :)
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! My girlfriend's engagement ring is sapphires. She's been married for like 9 years, so she's ahead of the trend!
ReplyDeleteWhat a stunning ring!! I'm all for the Sapphire trend! It's such a beautiful stone :)
ReplyDeleteWell I started the trend before Kate did! My hubs got me a sapphire engagement ring back in 2007!
ReplyDeleteHoping to head off the people who always chime in on this kind of post with things like "I want a PEARL engagement ring"...most stones are too soft to tolerate the extreme abuse people subject their engagement rings to. Sapphire and ruby would be the only stones I recommend besides diamonds, as they are the next hardest, though not as hard as diamonds by a long shot.
ReplyDeleteI am searing for something in hammered metal with a citrine stone. So far, no luck but I will keep searching.
ReplyDeleteOoooh! I have a sapphire ring, too, that looks just like Kate's! I wanted that for my engagement ring but hubby gave me a diamond (story here: http://www.topazhorizon.com/2009/10/what-i-want-for-my-birthday.html). So I bought it for myself =D
ReplyDeleteamazing!!! i looooove real diamonds x

wow!!! that ring is gorgeous!! sapphire is actually my birth stone. I have a few pink sapphire rings but non that a true blue sapphire! I think I want a traditional diamond engagement ring but wouldn't mind getting maybe an anniversary ring thats a sapphire! :)
ReplyDelete@Wendy: I agree with Wendy. If a gal is going to wear a ring daily, it is important stone is more durable. It is not savvy to have chipped stone. : )
ReplyDeleteSG, the ring is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteIt's gorgeous. I am way traditional, but hey, you always need a ring for the right hand too, right? ;)
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful ring! Sapphire is my favourite stone after diamonds. It's very elegant and timeless, but it also stands out from a typical diamond.
ReplyDeleteReally beautiful.

That ring is beautiful!! I adore sapphires, but I like traditional diamonds personally for engagement rings. Thats why I wear my diamond engagement ring on one hand and my saphire ring on the other!
ReplyDeletei say a diamond on one hand & a sapphire on the other. ;)
ReplyDeletethe ring is gorgeous!
I totally agree. The ring DOES look perfect on you and I love it. I wouldn't want a traditional diamond ring, I know I don't, I want something special and different with color. xx
ReplyDeleteSo gorgeous, darling!
ReplyDeleteI would love to have a sapphire as an engagement ring!

I've always loved sapphires! It looks amazing on your hand!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE that ring! I have my mom's knockoff from when Diana got her giant sapphire. I'm going to have to get with the times and find a Kate knockoff now too!
ReplyDeleteOkay--I just looked it up and it turns out it's the SAME RING, so I guess I don't need another one! What I do need is to keep up better on what's going on with the royal family!
ReplyDeleteI still like your friend's ring better!
wow...beautiful!! i love your ring. saphire and topaz are my choice because i love the color and looks so elegant and aristhocrat.
ReplyDeleteIt's stunning!

Very elegant indeed! I think I'd want a colored diamond... Pure classic crystal type seems a bit too bland. But who knows what I'll be saying once I am in a position to actually think about it lol
ReplyDeleteMy diamonds on my left hanf have gotten me through 14 years so I'l stick with it, but wouldn't say no to a beauty like that for my right!
ReplyDeletethat really is pretty! I'm not big on rings in general, but I think having something different than a regular diamond would be my choice. It's nice to mix things up and really go for something unique and classy...apart from the same old.
