With all my talks of healthy lifestyle, it is almost un-savvy to mention french fries. I said almost.... Whenever I visit a new restaurant, the first thing I look for is fries. Of course, without fail, I will order pommes frites to satisfy my craving for crunchy comfort food. Recently I dined Haven Gastropub in the city of Orange. The atmosphere was very lively and casual. Food is delicious, even if service was slightly on the slow side. I got a bowl of yummy fries. It might sound simple, but french fries done just right are hard to come by for some reason. I expect my fries to be light, crunch and flavorful, without a slight hint of oil. It is just un-savvy to eat soggy, oily fries.... Yuck, right?!
And, to finish off the meal, I ordered my next favorite food, strawberry dessert. This particular dessert was quite interesting, shortbread contained pepper which added a twist to this sweet dish. If I could, I start with dessert first...... What about you, what is your favorite food when dining out?
I'm such a bread person - good bread usually indicates other great food. I discovered truffle fries though and they are amazing!
ReplyDeleteI think it's kind of like eggs- deceptively simple, yet very hard to get just right.
ReplyDeleteThe strawberry dish looks divine! :D
Oh my goodness, French Fries are one of my favorites too! I like the bread and butter that restaurants put out before the meal.
ReplyDeleteYUMMYYUMMYYUMMYYUMMY!

ReplyDeleteim abig fan of fries too! my taste has evolved from happy meals to belgian pomme frittes. how delicious .
ReplyDeleteI love fries! Sprinkle a good dash of herbs & parmesan on them...or truffles...hmmmm. Even plain they're awesome. As long as they are crispy and not too thick & soggy.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a huge fan of french fries but these look delish!!
ReplyDeletewe can be french fries buddy!!! cuz i freaking love french fries. or chips.
ReplyDeleteor whatever they want to call it.
I always judge a fancy restaurant by their bread - if it's warm, soft, good butter, chewiness; the better places will make it well! Good fries are a good criteria as well. So many places make them, but few make them worth visiting a place for that alone.
ReplyDeleteMmmm! Both of those look great, and now I'm craving for good fries!
