Canaletto Ristorante Veneto, Fashion Island

During Fashion's Night Out, Canaletto gave out free dessert certificates to all the savvy shoppers at Neiman Marcus. Of course, I wouldn't miss out a chance to try a new place. The interior design was classic and clean. Our service person was really nice and attentive. Price point isn't too bad, our entrees were about $20 each.
Crab Risotto
Grilled Seafood with Beans and Arugula
Apple filled Crepe with Vanilla Ice Cream
With this being said, the risotto was slightly on the hard side. I thought risotto was supposed to be soft and creamy. What is the real deal? Does anyone know? Grilled seafood salad was really flavorful. I really liked it, minus all the beans. I couldn't say anything bad about that dessert at all. That scoop of vanilla ice cream was cream and flavorful. All in all, my experience was alright, nothing really good or bad. Wouldn't I go back, maybe but I wouldn't go out of my way.

Last but not least, the winner of the Elizabeth and James Ring Giveaway is Jennifer Fabulous. Congrats my dear, please e-mail me your contact and shipping information so I can have the lovely ring ship to you.

  5. Risotto should be creamy but the rice itself should still be "toothy" (al dente ;-) and a little chewy. You don't want a mushy rice pudding texture.

  10. yum...everything looks soo good. i also prefer my rosotto to be soft/creamy, but have had it on occasion slightly on the al dente side which i've heard might be the more authentic way
