I was totally surprised to see Temple St. Claire at Target the other day. But then, everyone is partnering up with Target to keep business profitable.
I like the gold cuff. All the pieces are very reasonably priced, although a gal shouldn't expect the quality of precious Temple St. Clair high jewelry pieces.
With this being said, when a luxury brand creates a partnership with a discounter, does it change your view of the brand's worth?
I love all these pieces! The gold cuff is my fav too!!
ReplyDeleteLove it ! :) I don't think so , I still like those luxury brands
ReplyDeleteI blogged about this line a few weeks ago - I like it too. I don't think a derivative line takes away from the main line (Lanvin will still be Lanvin even after it's mass market collab!)
ReplyDeleteOh wow those are so pretty!
ReplyDeleteI had never heard about this brand, prior to Target. There are a couple of pieces I really like.
ReplyDeleteI remember when Oprah was talking to Isaac Mizrahi about this exact issue. I liked what he said--that he was making fashion available to the American woman. Because I sew, I've noticed that you can buy some very well made things at the discount level, and some rather shoddily put together designer pieces. It's certainly not the rule, but it happens enough that in the end, I think it's more important to have a sense of who you are and what your style is than to just indiscriminately buy the most expensive things you can afford. This jewellery line might not be of the same quality as the higher-end line, but it definitely targets a woman with her own sense of style.
ReplyDeleteI LOVED seeing Temple St. Clair's designs at Target - they are gorgeous!
ReplyDeletePersonally, as long as the quality isn't bad, I adore when designers partner up with more affordable stores. It makes the lines far more accessible to those of us who aren't billionaires!! :P
I hadn't heard of this brand either... I saw those earrings in the last photo on the left at the store- they are pretty!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty items!
ReplyDeleteI don't love all of the TS Target pieces, but like you, I really like the cuff!
ReplyDelete@Knitwit: I agree with you about designer pieces that are just poorly made with a ridiculous price tag. At different price points, I have different expectations of the quality. I would buy trendier pieces at lower price point and classic for keep pieces at higher price point. After all, we don't have a money growing tree in the backyard. : )
ReplyDeleteJust great!

When designers partner up with mass retailers it honestly just raises my opinion of their business management. It makes a company more profitable and if you can make high quality items at a lower price point, shouldn't that be what everyone aims for?
ReplyDeletehmm not really!
ReplyDeleteNice! I like Target even more now.
ReplyDeleteLove them. Didnt know target can has sucha nice collection!
ReplyDeleteWhile I am a huge fan of Designers partnering up with affordable stores...i am not too excited about this. I guess it's just not my style. However, Simply Vera by Vera Wang at Kohl's....hi! LOL
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful!
ReplyDeletejuliet xxx
I like the cuff too.
ReplyDeleteThese are so pretty! I can't believe they're Target!
ReplyDeleteThey are all beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to get a pair for myself :-)

I think it depends on the brand and the results of the partnership. This used to be novel -- now it's very "me too!" That's kind of a turn off to me. And if the quality is bad, definitely a big turn off. I need to feel like the collaboration has meaning to both the luxury brand and the mass-market retailer, rather than just "everyone's doing it so why not us?"
ReplyDeleteI like that high end design aesthetic is now available for the rest of us in the mass market :) Obviously, quality will differ, but that comes with the lowered price tag.
ReplyDeleteI love that cuff. Although it might not be as great of quality, everything still looks really nice!
ReplyDeleteI am such a jewellery lover. These pieces are definitely beautiful.
