Five Feet Restaurant in Laguna Beach

Last weekend, I went to the annual Laguna Sawdust Festival which was lots of fun, browsing different vendors and art works. Afterward, we went to an Asian fusion restaurant called 5 Feet, located in the lovely Laguna Beach. Normally I would avoid Chinese fusion type of restaurants but after reading so many raving reviews,  I just had to give this place a chance. The atmosphere itself was alright but service was great. The owner Michael Kang was there interacting with all the patrons.
We were served with kimchi which was sort of Chinese/Korean fusion. It was slightly spicy which went awfully well with a glass of ice cold beer.
It was rather hot so I thought a bowl of hot and sour soup would bring back some appetite. Crab meat replaced traditional chicken or pork.
Since the chef/owner recommended this specialty of the house, I had to order this fried catfish dish. It was slightly sweet and sour with a touch of spiciness. It is good to share between 2 to 3 people. The picture does not do justice to the size of the fish. The fish must be about 2 feet long.
Last but not least, braised beef was quite tender and the flavor was just right. Those onion rings were light and flaky.  This place is another must visit for me in the future. I want to try to the catfish dish again when I am actually hungry!

Update: I found out this place is going to close soon. I hope this won't happen because I have just discovered this savvy little niche.
