Emporio Armani Event with Elle Style Director Kate Lanphear

Last night, I went to a Emporio Armani & Elle fashion show hosted by the super stylish Elle Style Director, Kate Lanphear. The woman is the epitome of savvy style, not to mention graciousness. I behaved like a fashion groupie and bugged her for a picture together. Of course, of all the pictures, I accidentally deleted THE PICTURE of us and then my computer wiped out my saved copy within minutes back to back. I almost cried but a friend promised to help me...... There must be a evil fashion imp somewhere playing a joke on me. I wished I taken a picture of her ripped tee shirt under the jacket. I didn't know ripped tees can become so stylish.Anyway, Ms. Lanphear gave us a rundown of fashion must-have and a lesson on mixing and matching various pieces. I will discuss various subtopics further in separate posts. She accidentally helps me break my no-more-buying-dresses-ban! Maybe it is not a good thing for the wallet uh......

Here are some of the outfits she put together for our viewing:
Simple black and white combo is so chic for an evening out. Honestly I didn't think low crotch pants could be so stylish.
So feminine.... It is one of my favorite outfits of the evening.
I have resisted harem pants until last night! But, I think the reason is the outfit not just me changing my mind for no good reason.
Polka Dots trend continues this season.
This coat dress so has my name on it. It is a basic pieces that will get many wears. According to Ms. Lanphear, it is building one's wardrobe with basic versatile pieces. This is one of them for sure. The yummy python bag makes the black coat dress less severe.
Leather jacket with basic satin shirt and sleek pants is SO chic. From a jacket in the office to a leather jacket for the evening out, a gal is going to look polish and stylish from day to night effortlessly.
What a cute romper dress!!! I love how the belt added interest to the black dress. My name is on this dress too. I think the fedora make the whole outfit extra stylish.
Nautical theme continues to be big, I don't think it is going away anytime soon. But then isn't blue the new black during spring/summer time?
I didn't want to buy Emporio Armani jeans until now. This outfit is just so casual chic. I can see myself becoming super happy with any of the outfits from the evening.
Normally I would not have given these bejeweled bracelets a second look. However, they are super cute on. I would totally wear them with cute little tees and skinny jeans this summer. Having the right accessories sure can make an outfit extra snazzy!

This is it for now. I hope I can retrieve the lost picture in the next couple of days. Of course, stay tuned to read what I have learned from Kate Lanphear. I love everything she has done for the evening because every look is so wearable, almost regardless of age. So which is your favorite outfit?

  4. What a fab post. Kate is definitely one of my favorite style icons... I've always adored her edgy yet still put-together elegant looks. I think the second look is my favorite along with the coat dress and I've been trying to get my hands on a silk romper dress for a while now (saw one a few weeks ago and I haven't been able to find it ever since... argh).

So sorry to hear about your deleted pic though. It's happened to be as well and it's so frustrating. I hope you manage to retrieve it!

  7. Agree they are all very wearable -- I liked the second outfit " So feminine.... It is one of my favorite outfits of the evening." and the last outfit with the jeans and the blouse I would add the leather jacket from the other pic to wear with it and mix match these two outfits..

  9. Kate looks amazing. I love when women pull off the white blonde. I used to be no no no with the harem/low crotch pants, now I have a pair I wear all the time. I think it's a matter of finding the right one for you. I like a more tailored version. The black coat, esp. trench, I could not function w/o one. I wear them AT LEAST once a week. And no matter how many snide comments I get about it (living in FL), I'm not going to give them up. I like the nautical look she styled too.

My favorite look, is the harem with the jacket, white shirt, and peep toes, which occurs to me I've worn my own version of that look!
