I placed to 2 safety pins on each side of my shoulders to attach at the top. You can make adjustment according to your own shoulder width. Instead of sewing the 2 sides together at the bottom (see here), I wrapped the back scarf to the front and secure with a safety pin. Then, I arranged the front scarf in attractive folds, making sure front and back are the same length.

I like your version!
ReplyDeleteThough the thought of a safety pin going through a (hermes) silk scarf makes me cringe a little. eecck!
Hi there-a really fabulous diy look, I love it!!
ReplyDeleteJust amazing....
ReplyDeleteP.S.: I am moving my blog. (janetteria.com), but I have a big problem with DNS of blogger.com and now the blog update is not working. (for example: google reader, bloglist...) I hope so the problem will be resolved soon. I want let me know this. Please don't forget to visit this blog because I can make a new post for everyday, will not break my habit.
This is better than the scarf dress that you saw. I love the combination of patterns. xoxo
ReplyDeletewow, this is so creative! You make it sounds so easy and you make me wants to make one too, now all i have to do is find some wide scarves :)
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot for the DIY idea!

Wow, looks great!
ReplyDeleteI love what you have put together here and the patterns go well together. It looks great on you!
ReplyDeleteHere! Here! Your version is much better. The colors are bold, but not overpowering. The length is just right - not super short. And I really like the arms. A great dress for brunch on a beautiful Sunday. But, I too would be concerned about pins through a scarf all day. There's bound to be an alternative. Velcro possibly?
ReplyDeleteYou are so creative! Looks great.
ReplyDeleteNow sell this dress for $2000, go get more Hermes scarfs, make them into more dresses, sell those..... adn become a VIP Hermes client! lol Ok, I'm kidding :) Love your version of this dress, although I think I'd prefer it if the scarfs were identical.
ReplyDeleteI like yours so much better! Gorgeous! :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!
ReplyDeleteJulia, I thought about having 2 of the same scarves as well. The one at Hermes worked really well b/c the back scarf is black with minimal print. I might just have to buy me a really basic scarf if I want to sport this look continuously.
ReplyDeleteSo clever& fab you!
ReplyDeleteHope to get the VIP in the future~
xo
I love your re-creation it is so clever to try and make it yourself!
ReplyDeleteThose scarves have a beautiful essence to them!

ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea!
ReplyDeleteThis looks AMAZING! Do it! Sigh, I almost got my first Hermes scarf and it sold out. :( You're inspiring me.
ReplyDeleteWow, I love this!
ReplyDeleteone word girl - genius!
ReplyDeleteWow you're amazing! I would definitely not have the skills and coordination required to do something like this LOL. It looks great, although putting a hole in a Hermes scarf, albeit teeny ones, kinda hurts me inside.
ReplyDeleteoh clever! I like.
ReplyDeleteGreat dress - looks better than the Hermes one.
ReplyDeleteYou are so crafty, SG! I love the way that the yellow in the Hermes scarf is picked up so well by the yellow on the dress. That's definitely a much more affordable way to re-create this look.
