I adore Chanel window shopping. This time around, red, white and blue seem to be the dominating colors. I can definitely smell spring around the corner. I saw lots of bright blue and red at the Spring Trunk Show. With this being said, I think it is fun to wear color bold over the knee socks but this savvy gal is pretty sure Chanel socks are not in my future. Why?
On the side note, socks with open toe heels appear to be the rage with many designers. Do you like this trend?

I love this fun tote but I am sure it won't be in my bag closet anytime soon. When I shell out lots of gold coins for a bag, I expect to use it for a long time. Red, white and blue color combination is fresh and the double chain straps are quite stylish but I can only see myself use this tote while on vacation at a tropical island or a day at the beach.

Instead, I got a simple long sleeve dress, similar to the dress in the above first picture. I tend to buy classic pieces which do nothing for the eyes on the hanger but the fit is superb. I know for sure I will get many wears out of this. Shiny silver weave in the fabric makes this black dress extra sparkly. Also, this dress does not shout Chanel; it has a thumb nail size logo button by the hips which is quite inconspicuous. Will you spend big money on fun designer pieces or only classic investments?

I will buy from designers if it can be an investment only . I can't afford the expensive price ! x)
ReplyDeletePersonally, I see myself spending big money on just about anything that I really like and want, which might not be a good thing financially, but I realize this kind of spending makes me feel good and happy. Of course, if we're talking clothes, some of the items get worn a lot, some just once until I alter them in one way or another to make them more wearable, and some o the items never get worn in the first year of purchase (usually when it's something unusual for my wardrobe), but surprisingly enough in some time when teh trend comes back I might as well start living in them. All of this is pretty weird and I wouldn't recommend such buying to anyone, but thus far, it's worked for me!
ReplyDeleteLove this kind of sparkly fabric your dress is made of!! I have a shirt in similar fabric and I just love it :)
love the look of the red socks!
ReplyDeleteif only i could afford either one of them, i will not hesitate
ReplyDeleteto buy them. love the window display sweetie.

ReplyDeletei luv my socks but no way its gonna go over me big thighs lol

I can't see the whole dress in the first picture, but what I do see from it, it looks rather cute! I am not a fan of knee socks. I also prefer to spend my money on designer pieces that last, rather than on something trendy. For trendy stuff i'll go to F21, Zara (although I have stuff from there that I bought 3 years ago, and still wear), and H&M.
ReplyDeleteI don't like the whole red, white and blue thing, but I'm glad that there will be clothes available in navy blue this spring.
ReplyDeleteThe red socks are kinda hot though.
I love that tote!
ReplyDeleteI die over that bag! I really love the red and navy together! XOXO
ReplyDeleteOnly as investments to last years. Trendy stuff is fine if it's inexpensive.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see you in the dress, Savvy!
Happy New Year!
I do think the bag is cute!!!
ReplyDeleteI love those pictures ! Especially the first one !
ReplyDeleteIf I had the money I would only buy really expensive classic pieces. No need to spend money on trendy pieces when there's Forever 21 and H&M!
ReplyDeleteI love the red, white and blue trend :) It's so nautical and so very Americana. I love the Chanel window display! And your new dress sounds divine!
ReplyDeleteI love pieces that surprise you when they look somewhat bland on the hanger, but are absolutely stunning on your body. Will we get to see your new Chanel purchase on you? Hope so!
ReplyDeleteKnee socks like this look great when worn with a skirt. I love that look on women. It is not a look all women can pull off.

I wish I HAD big money to spend, but I have to be content stopping here and looking for now! One day I'll write my scandalous bestselling novel, and when I do, I think I'll still only drop the big bucks on the classics. The red white and blue is tempting though--very fresh!
ReplyDeleteThat is a very bright red.
ReplyDeleteloving the nautical theme of the colours! the red OTK socks are so unexpected :D
ReplyDeleteYou had me at Chanel.
ReplyDeleteLucky gal, buying Chanel... I think that you did the right thing. Getting something that will stand the test of time. The fabric looks very glamorous. Wearing it will lift you up a few inches into fashion fairy wonderland.
ReplyDeleteI kind of like the new fashion, socks under open-toe heels - it's chic and tasteless at the same time. Quite daring thus.
I've had a link to your blog for a while now from mine - I wondered if you'd like to do the same?
Have a sweet Sunday!
Spring is closer than we think. Time to get rid of the winter fat and shape up. Those damn mannequins never have to diet, the bitches!

A good tip is to "invest" more on classic pieces, they don't necessarily have to be the "Classic" Classics, but things that you know you're going to wear a lot. And then, save on the fun trendy pieces and very basics (tees, socks, etc...)
ReplyDeleteFor me it is worth it to spend more on jackets and trench coats as I wear those pieces a lot, and rely on them to pull together my look.
Beautiful color combination I would wear any day! It's so me:)

I can't wait to see your new purchase on you! When I splurge, I don't always choose the "safe" investment piece. Sometimes I find that the "fun" piece can actually be a good investment because it's unique and the novelty of it leads me to wear it more often.
ReplyDeletei am definitely a fan of over-the-knee socks, but i have a strange suspicion i won't be wearing chanel ones any time soon either. ;)
ReplyDeleteMmmm Chanel. I'm not crazy about the open shoes with socks look but they are just reaching for something different.
ReplyDeleteThose stockings are amazing, but I totally agree w/ your choice on the simple dress. It's always better to stick to classics when you are shelling out a lot of dough.
