New Year Resolution: Avoid Sky High Alexander McQueen Platform & Clutch

Hello darlings! It is so great to be here with all my friends in 2010. I hope everyone had a fabulous new year eve and day. When I saw these, I couldn't help but admire the unique characteristics of these high high platforms. What statement shoes! With that being said, please someone slap me if I ever consider buying something this high. I have been struggling with 5 inch heels (with .5 inch platform in the front) already. I think my face will definitely become close and personal with the floor wearing these babies. SG and high high heels shouldn't even be in the same sentence. Can someone teach me how to walk in high high heels?
A gal pal told me these are about 12 inches including the platform. These are not heels, they are stilts. Well, if I ever buy anything like these, I will be a head above the rest for once in my life. Hm..... worthy of consideration uh? Is it just me or do they look like lobster claws? Can you imagine walking with these at all?
Last but not least, I will avoid interesting bags that are unique and interesting in theory but perhaps lacking in the utility department. This clutch looks absolutely luxurious but I think I will be tire holding it like the model after a while. Well, savvy gals, what are you going to avoid while shopping this coming 2010?

  1. If you ever consider buying those shoes, I will not only slap you, I will hate you. Hahaha! You won't be my style icon anymore.

For 2010, I will avoid shopping for small bags because I really don't use them much. I love humongous bags. And I won't be swayed into buying another ankle boots because it just really makes me look so short.

  2. Ooo...yeah...I'm with you. I think those shoes look like total lobster claws! Definitely going to stay away from those! (Plus, I'm already 5'10. I'd look like the Jolly Green Giant if I wore those babies!)

  10. I'm more than happy to join you in your resolution to avoid all of these things. :)

You know, I've decided that 3 inch heels are my limit, and even then I really prefer heels in the 1.5-2.5" range. When I wear heels every day, I start to get incredibly painful spasms in my arches that are terrible when I'm dancing (because the style of dance I do requires you to be up on the balls of your feet *without* heels.) It's just not worth it even if a higher heel makes my legs look slimmer.

  12. I would like to see a running race of women wearing these types of high-heels. It would be interesting to see how many can run in them...

They do look hot.. If I saw a woman wearing them... that woman would def. stand out.

  14. I know everyone raves about this collection, but weird alien looking stuff doesn't speak to me. I go crazy for when McQueen shows off his tailoring.
I think these shoes are mostly likely for show, either not going into production or will be modified for the shops.

  15. I would die for those McQueen platform hoof shoes. OK maybe not die-- but I would swoon of delight and then demand that my Mr. carry me around because I predict they would be killer to walk in. This post makes me laugh because I have been buying 5 inch wedges this week and looking forward to clomping around in them. I'm a sucker for super tall shoes being a short gal. :)

  16. I wish I was more coordinated to wear high heels! And I also wish I had the non-lazy attitude to hold a clutch, but I just don't! Happy New Year to you!! xo, Mel

  20. I'm teaching my students about lobsters this week in Science(yeah, I know, not the most fun lesson) and those totally look like lobster claws. Maybe, I could show them these heels to bring some fun fashion into the lesson. That'll get their attention! ;)

I'm with Nina, no more impulse shopping!!!

  26. This year I need to work on not being such an impulsive shopper. Oh and those shoes, I can barely make it with 4 inch heels.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Ohh, goodness those shoes are HIGH! I can magnage with a nice 4 1/2-5 inch heel, but holy moly, those are ridiculous!
I'm not a fan of the heels in the second picture... they look so awkward, and I can't see anyone (even Victoria Beckham) wearing them off the runway! I do not need to appear to be 6'5" either, with the 12" heel.
I hope you have a wonderful new year, darling SG! xo

  28. Those shoes are for the runway only...or GAGA videos. haha

  30. happy new year to you too!!! hmm...your choices are great! mine are probably...1. avoid buying shoes without first looking in my closet bc chances are (at this point in my collecting) that i have something similar in style and 2. avoid buying mini mini skirts--i just feel like more is more sometimes and i'm past the whole supershortskirt stage, i just tried on a few old miniskirts from last summer and felt ridiculous! anyway, happy 2010 shopping to you!!
    xx
