Usually I when wear denim, I will wear only one piece out of the whole outfit, like the images above. (via style.com) However, I have learned there is a new denim trend in town. Apparently, allover denim for the whole outfit is no long a fashion faux pas.

Ralph Lauren collection embraces allover denim with open arms. (images via style.com)

While web shopping, I see mix and match denim pieces of differ colors and elements.

Jean Paul Gaultier also welcome allover denim with open arms. Years ago, I purchased a Moschino denim top and bottom outfit which I have worn as separates. Now, I guess it is now mode du jour to wear them together uh.....

I have not paired same color denim together but I have paired gray denim jacket with dark blue jeans for a few months now. Can SG predict trend or what?! I now still slightly iffy about this allover denim trend but as I adore denim anything, I will try to mix and match in future outfits. What about you, will you wear denim top, or jacket with denim bottoms? Is it savvy to you?

i def would not pair a denim bottom with a denim top. it was never something i would ever do and i dont think it looks good at all. but maybe you can pull it off ;)
ReplyDeleteJ'adore denim!
ReplyDeleteXx
I love denim! There are so many ways to make it go from simple to fabulous! :)
ReplyDeleteSG, you can definitely predict trends.:-) Those denim ensembles are awesome. I never thought that all-over denims can look this fabulous.
ReplyDeleteHi there-I will definitely try this trend, if it doesn't work, its easy to go back to separates, LOL!! Great post!!
ReplyDeleteI love the second image from the Stella McCartney S/S 10 show.
ReplyDeleteDenim - I say work it!
I could see if the colors were different - very different - but no, not a whole outfit of the same shade.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week, my friend!
It's a case by case basis, some people wear it better than others. I don't consider simple solid black jeans a "denim", so to me that's fine to pair with another denim piece. I really like the ralph lauren look on the right though.
ReplyDeleteUsually, I'm not a fan of such combo, but I like the styles of those Gautier's creations!
ReplyDeleteI don't like the all over denim look- esp if it's the same shade or really close and then clash. That being said, these Ralph Lauren looks work though!
ReplyDeleteI'm okay with all-over denim, but I prefer a completely mismatched look. Matching my jeans to my jacket somehow shrieks "High School" to me!
ReplyDeletei like the all over denim trend honey, i think it is all about how it is done. love the new design of your site! fab!darling hope you are having a good day.my latest post is a video interview of me for style site,Chicisimo.
ReplyDeletebig kiss

Great outfits and lots of stuff to think about... I do NOT like the upper right picture of the skirt- looks like 1994!!! Most others I liked though, I think denim on denim either works or just doesn't. Love this post!
ReplyDeleteI say denim on denim only if each was a completely different shade.
ReplyDeleteGreat looks, but I'm not sure if I can pull off the multi-pieces of denim look, myself!
ReplyDeleteI love denim! maybe not head to toe..
ReplyDeleteI am a believer in one piece of denim at a time. But to each their own.;-) Happy 2010!
ReplyDeleteLOL I remember spotting a pic of Hayden P in June, I think it was my 4th post ever, looks like the costume stylist on Heroes new what was coming!
ReplyDeleteHope you had a great weekend!
dare i say i am over denim except for jeans?
ReplyDeletethanks for coming by my lil ol blog ... off to explore yours!
I love how you've paired the different color denim. I'm unsure if I'd be willing to wear all denim, all the same color.
ReplyDeletep.s. I just received my watch today. It's wonderful! Thank you so much :)
I think I'm going to stick with one denim piece at a time. But you're right, if anyone is going to give this trend a whirl, please please please make sure the denims are differnt colors!
ReplyDeleteI predict Denim makes a HUGE comeback in 2010!
ReplyDeletei've always been a big fan (when it's done right) great spotlight :)
ReplyDeletei really don't like the denim-on-denim look, although the bleached denim jacket on black jeans looked pretty good. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm digging the first photo.. and possibly the third.. but I've always heard... denim with denim is a fashion faux pas...... who started that denim was a faux pas?
ReplyDeleteI've worn black or grey denim with a blue jacket...
ReplyDeleteA one-piece denim dress would be cute, or different colored denim on top & bottom, but not matching denim top & bottom. No, not for me.
ReplyDeleteI dont know if I could rock it. I'd try though.
ReplyDeleteLove your new blog look! Hehe...yes, you can predict the trends. :D I have never mixed or wore more than one denim item at the same time before but it is fun to experiment!
ReplyDeleteP.S I think you're right about the bad things happening in 3 thing. Def staying away from the car!
That's a deal breaker for me. The hubs calls people that sport denim head to toe Denim Dans. Ah ha ha
ReplyDeleteUgh no thanks, particularly if it's the same shade! I would only do this if it were very different colors of denim (colors, not shades) or if it were a dress or overall situation. It's just too 80s for me and not the good parts of the 80s style!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I will be able to rock this look.
ReplyDeleteI am not a fan of too much denim in one outfit, but I love the way it is worn at the Stella McCartney show!
ReplyDeleteYea, definitely NOT a fan of denim on denim. Kudos though to those who can pull off the look successfully though. For me, I just don't look good. I like that studded denim vest from Shopbop though!
ReplyDeletexo, Becs
I'm going to have to say no to all over denim. Unless you're a cowboy, of course. Then it's okay. :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks for adding me to your blogroll! You're on mine as well.
I adore denim !
ReplyDeleteI can't do all over denim after remember that really bad red carpet appearance by Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears circa 2001-ish! But, I do love denim, so some of it is ok!
ReplyDeleteall over denim reminds me of the 90's (or was it the 80's), so i struggle with that a LOT! i don't think i can do it, but more power to those that do. i guess. a;haahhaha
ReplyDeleteIt could work. I actually, really like the Ralph Lauren outfit (on the right).
