Brunch at Break of Dawn

Even though we have dated for a while. I still try to dress up on our dates. I think looking great makes the whole date that much better. Last week, I decided to dress up a little on a brunch date with BF. I sported a geek chic look in a winter white skirt.

What I am Wearing:

-White Ann Taylor shirt
-Lilac color TSE cashmere sweater
-Off white Celine skirt --- I think this is the 2nd or the 3rd time I have wore this skirt. Cost per wear is pretty high at this point. I love the button detail and the pockets.
-Eel skin Sergio Rossi heels --- They are stylish but walking is another matter due to the extreme heel height. I had BF drop me off right outside of the restaurant.

We discovered Break of Dawn by chance last week while trying to decide where to eat. I was really touched by the owner's story. Here is a man who is trying to pursue his passion in cooking and yet setting his family as priority. He was an executive sou chef at the Ritz Carlton before starting his own restaurant.
BF ordered meatloaf with biscuit and eggs. The dish was very light and there is a definitely Asian influence in the taste.
I ordered a dished called Skillet. It was potato wedges, bacon, cheese, 2 poach eggs and guacamole with sour cream. It was delicious. We definitely had an unusual but delicious brunch. When you are in the Laguna Hills area, this place is worthy of a visit. I don't know if I can eat this every weekend because many dishes were more exotic than the usual brunch but I will definitely visit again. Do you prefer simple brunch or exotic types?

  2. What a lovely outfit! I thin dressing up for dates is important and you did a good job. The brunch sounds very exotic indeed. I, myself, prefer something mor etraditions when it comes to breakfast and brunch, but I love trying new things for lunch

  4. I feel the same way! Even though it's passe now, I fervently believe in dressing nice for dates. Doing so reminds me that the date is a special occasion, and I should treat it that way. Plus, it gives me an excuse to wear my nice clothes. :-)

  6. I love, love, love that skirt! The details on the front really make it a special piece!

And your dish looks so yummy! I'll have to pass on your boyfriend's choice, however. I'm not a fan of meatloaf!

  11. You look great!

I actually feel like I dress up more when I'm in a relationship than when I'm first dating someone. Granted, we go out on "dates" less now that we've been together so long (ordering pizza and renting a movie is sooo easy after a long Saturday!), but when we do I'm much more likely to bust out the high heels, dresses, etc. I guess when I'm first dating someone I just don't want to reveal too much of my high-maintenance side ;-)

Of course, I never get pics for my blog because I'm always curling my hair until the last possible second!

  21. Thank you - my birthday was great!

I love your skirt. The button detail on the front is beautiful, and the shape looks perfect for your figure.

I'm kind of a simple breakfast girl - it takes a while for my stomach to wake up enough to tolerate more than a cup of tea and maybe cereal. I love omelettes or quiche, though.

  27. o.O I absolutely ADORE your skirt! it's gorgeous!!! too bad you don't wear it more, it looks very versatile but i know if i had gorgeous white skirt i would not wear it often either at risk of staining it...i personally prefer simple breakfasts/brunches. usually i just have a veggie omelet, special k cereal with milk or yogurt, or strawberry waffles ^__^
