Over the knee boots are the latest rage and personally I do like the trend because a right pair of boots can certainly make a gal look leggy. With that being said, I totally insulted myself the other day when I even looked at a pair of Chanel OTK boots. I put this pair of boots right next to me to size up and it came up almost to my hips. Yeah, trying pulling this on.... I will definitely achieve Puss in Boots look in my 5' 4" frame...... *arrrggh* A gal definitely needs to be at least 6 inches taller to even consider this pair of boots. I ended up trying the flat black pair on right. That one was more reasonable; it came up to my knee which made me felt so much better. However both had ouchy retail prices. The OKT pair was like $2250 and the short pair was $1245.
Even though I like OTK boots, so far I have not been able to find a pair to really satisfy me completely. I figure if I am going to shell out lots of gold coins then I need to be happy with my choice. For example, I looked at the Miu Miu on left (via Saks for $1275) but the shaft is 29 inches. Hello, my inseam is only 31 inch! How is that savvy or stylish???? (definitely Puss in Boots look.....) Then, I looked at another pair at Tod's which was similar to Stuart Weitzman (via Saks for $675) but leg shaft was too wide I looked like a fisherman going for the Puss in Boots look. The circumference of the Weitzman pair is 20 inches and my thighs are 17 inches at widest. I think OKT boots should be more fitted to achieve a sleek stylish look.
In the end, I think I am just going to settle for slightly over the knee boots with a fitted shaft. I like the idea of extreme OTK boots but due to height contraint, I definitely need to scale down and find something that fits me and my need to be trendy. What do you think of extreme OKT boots?

I LOVE OTK boots, but being short myself (5'2) I have come to the realization that these type of boots will most likely never work on me. It looks FAB on those who have long legs though!

I'm tall and would totally wear the OTK's,.....if I didn't keep getting flashbacks of a certain hooker working it for Richard Gear on Hollywood Blvd. I would have to say that Pretty Woman has ruined super high boots for me for the rest of my life. It's a shame though. The Chanel's are pretty awsome.
I dream of having an OTK boots but I know that I have no use for it in the tropics. And besides, according to your analysis, the extreme OTK or the thigh-high boots are made for taller girls. I'm just 5'5". I guess we'll have the same problem then.

I hear ya, doll! Sadly, I have the opposite problem... thigh high boots only come up to just above my knee, which also looks silly.... Guess we will have to buy custom!!

I love these boots! I am 5'9 with proportional (not crazy long, unfortunately) legs, so fit is less of a problem for me. However, I've found it's hard to find a shaft that is tight enough. I like the Miu Miu pair that you posted! :)
Extreme OTK boots are not my thing.

I just bought a flat, black pair- Report's Harper boot. It comes up a few inches over my knee, but also folds down really neatly for a different look. I love them!
I love over-the-knee boots, but like you, I feel I'm too short (I'm five feet flat). It's kind of frustrating. Sigh. All the boots you posted are so fabulous. :)

I'm 5'1"..... If I wore a pair, I would start to chafe.
I think that the over the knee is a little much.
LOVE them. I've been wanting a pair since louboutin came out with the Monica boots last yr. And finally a year later with the "trickle down" effect I was able to cop a pair of black suede thigh highs for dirt cheap last week. (I didnt want to spend a lot, since they are a bit "stupid" for living in tropical weather) For me, the more something covers me, the better I look.
Hi there-I have the same view as you, I just bought a pair of faux leather black patent OTKs, but they just go over the knee and are flat too, like the 3rd picture you've shown. I love the trend, but personally could not go to thigh length!!
I think they are fantastic. They do seem to work better on taller girls.
I've been wanting to try the look myself but my main worry is that they won't stay up. I feel like they may slide right over my knee and down my leg. Also, once the fad is over, I won't be able to wear them anymore for fear of looking like a street walker. At least right now, everyone is wearing them!
I am contemplating on getting OTK boots too. But I don't really see me getting much use out of it since I don't think i can wear it o work. Great picks though - the Chanel is to die for!

I do like them, though, it's just a matter of finding the right pair. I tend to like the fit of the second pic versus the other looser ones.

My problem with OTK boots is I have meaty thighs and normally they won't zip. Oh well...guess that's one fashion trend I'll have to avoid. I hope you are feeling better soon. XOXO

i felt the same way about otk boots. i still don't really like them very much because okay, here's my logic, i usually wear cute tights so why cover them up? and also, i would feel like a pirate if they were flat ones and a 'Pretty Woman' wannabe if they were heels/platforms. I don't own any pair of boots--ankle, calf, knee, over-the-knee... precisely because I'm only 5'3" and I seriously look stunted in boots!
I just can't imagine that they would be comfortable. But some people can definitely pull it off.
every shoe loveing man and woman should own a few pairs of these OTK boots. they are incredibly attractive and a lot of fun to wear both indoors and outdoors.
