Keeping Myself Motivated to Exercise & Yummy Macarons in OC

Last weekend, we got up at the crack of dawn to go running on the beach. I love going out to Crystal Cove to breathe in fresh sea air in the morning. With that being said, living healthy and keeping fit is not easy; sometime this really sucks. There were days which I just wanted to pig out and stay in bed all day but I would kick myself in the butt to do the right thing. Why? Because..... a gal could gain weight just like that but getting rid of days of unhealthy living ain't so easy. Just like money uh, so easy to spend but so hard to make up deficit!!! So what is a gal to do to keep motivated and live healthy for fitness and longevity? For me, this is what I do to keep motivation for healthy living and staying fit:

1. Get an exercise partner (BF is my partner in crime): With two of us exercising together, it is harder to stay lazy as one of us will give the other a kick in the butt when motivation is low.
2. Avoid fatty and fry food types when I eat out. I do not avoid it altogether but just eat in moderation. Thank goodness BF does not enjoy fry food at all so eating with him stops me from eating fry food too.
3. I only drink sodas, eat candy bars and snack on chips on rare occasions; these are just empty calories which add up quickly.
4. Looking at my Chanel pieces usually will motivate me to go for the elliptical instead of that piece of cookie. An average Chanel suit can cost upward of $5000 so I can't afford to replace them.......
5. Healthy living and exercise give a gal really good skin so that is pretty snazzy and savvy. Whenever someone comments on my skin, I have the urge to go exercise.

All in all, every one will have different methods to stay motivated and fit. Basically I ask myself what kind of life do I want in the present and future. For me, I want to be as healthy and fit as possible, not just because I want to wear my size 34/36 Chanel jacket, but because I want to prevent chronic diseases in the future. I know I hate it when I am sick in bed and have no energy to do anything because my body aches to death. It is these occasions that I realize being healthy is so priceless and worth all the trouble in the world. What do you think?
Of course, all the pep talk previous just went down the drain with these 2 following pictures. I found a bakery in Irvine called Layer Cake which had amazing desserts and of course yummy macarons. I am on this constant hunt for macarons so imagine my eyes just light up when I walk in to encounter these little delights.
After lunch, BF and I snacked on these macarons and gone walking again afterward to walk it off. I think these were baked fresh daily. They were flaky on the outside and chewy on the inside. I got so excited; I purchased half dozen which was a mistake because I could only eat a couple per sitting. The following day, these dried up and didn't taste as good. I would just grab a couple next time around when I get the craving for macarons. How do you motivate yourself to live healthy and staying fit?

For me, the key is never give up...even for a day...make your day to do your planned phisical exercises and stick to it....
Eat well is also essencial, but some sweets once in a while is a great reward ;)

Yuuum, macaroons!

I think that the key is to find something you enjoy doing that also helps burn calories so you don't feel like you are exercising just for the sake of exercise. For me, I love a good hike or bike ride. And pilates definitely helps me stay sane!

I have tried to keep up with the healthy/exercise thing so many times and failed each time! I just love food too much! And now its rainy season so I can’t go running outside… do I sound like I’m just making too many excuses? Hahaaha! ;P

Oooh...macaroons are my weakness! I can never resist them! My motivation to work out is to be healthy and live long...at the same time, it makes me feel confident. When I feel lazy, I just look at Victoria's secret catalogues and it just snapped me right up! xoxoxoxoxo

You're such a tiny little thing-- surely you don't need the exercise to lose weight-- but it's inspirational to see how you keep moving-- for health's sake!

Love this post... I also believe in living healthy. I sure do want to see my boys get married someday and I want to look fabulous and really strong and still beautiful when that day comes. Hahaha! That is my motivation. So better start early or else everything will be too late.

For me, motivation comes from wanting to stay energized so I can teach my fitness classes, lift weights, and train in Goju Ryu karate.

I can eat junk food when I'm 80.

Looking good in jeans gives me that extra nudge! ;)

Beautiful post! Sometimes it's hard to find the motivation to eat right and exercise. But you're right, it comes down to: what kind of life do I want in the future?

I actually lost a lot of weight - I had been overweight all my life and right after college, I started Weight Watchers and lost 70 pounds. I gained about 7 pounds back - which is fine, I felt that I was a little gaunt at my lowest. Knowing that I worked so hard to lose the weight keeps me motivated to stay healthy.

I stay healthy and fit because that's how I feel the best. I do as you, I try not to eat things that are not good for me and loaded with calories. Thus I avoid the need to diet.

Fashion is more fun when you feel good in your body. For motivation, one can always go shopping and see all the goodies that can reward us in a lot more of an enduring way than a junk food treat. This doesn't mean that one couldn't savor good food from time to time.

Macaroons are so big in Paris right now. They were born here, at the famous bakery&coffee shop Ladurée. This fall they did a special Loubutain edition - black and red treats with a classy box to bounce on your way back home.

usually, i'll just leave my gym ipod and sneakers out to remind me that i just have to go to the gym that day! i love going to the gym but it's always annoying in the cold weather. sometimes instead of going to the gym when it's cold i'll just wear sneakers, take extra long routes and go up the stairs every time that day =)

i love breathe the sea air. i love beach so much. i will never visit the beach on foot, why?? because so hard to find a beach. from my house about 2 hours with motorcylce 80-100km/hours, and we should walking again through the hill for about 30-40 minutes. after that i will be very hungry and i will eat like a monster. not to lose weight but gain weight.
