*I really like the color block tights by DKNY (via Nordstrom $20). It reminds me of the beige and black Chanel tights from a few seasons ago.....
The other day, I found out even the most trendy gal can make a style mistake. Gal pal Michelle (the image consultant) discovered Kate Spade polka dot tights and purchased herself a pair after seeing the darling thing on the model. Doesn't this just look adorable with the raspberry accent? Anyhoo, she told me those tights on her looked like little fat measles. I laughed so hard I couldn't get off the floor. We discovered these only look good on really skinny legs. SO quoting M, "Image consultant can make fashion mistake!"
**It is extra funny b/c M is always stylish....

-center Free People $38 --- Sheer printed tights generally will not make a gal appear 10 pounds heavier.
-right Hue Argyle tights via CUSP $18

-Wolford $55 via Saks --- I am on the fence until I have a chance to see in person.

-right Marni Check tights $120 via Net-a-Porter
I don't think I will spend too much money on tights anymore. After my Chanel episode, I definitely will be looking for more price friendly printed tights. I don't think I will spend more than $50 since there are so many cute styles within reason and I probably wear it only a couple of times. How much are you willing to spend on printed tights and leggings?
Hello my dear,
ReplyDeleteI luv tights soooo much - U know!
X♥X♥
Hi there-I love tights, but am wary about patterns and prints, I've bought some lace ones that I'm yet to wear! lovely picks here my dear!
ReplyDeleteSpanx are very naughty!
ReplyDeleteThankx for your spankx!
I'd like to try those DKNY ones. I've purchased a ridiculous amount of tights this year, but I only spend about $10 per pair. The most expensive ones this year were $20ish for a pair of the tonal argyle tights from Kate Spade during the friends & family promotion.
ReplyDeleteI like the DKNY ones, too. The American Apparel ones are not that great.
ReplyDeleteOh I agree with you, SG- this trend is uber hard to pull off. I think they can look really cute on lots of girls, but I try to stay away from "cute" because I already am mistaken for being so much younger (being short and petite seems to confuse people's ability to tell age). Also being a petite gal, pattens in general are a no-no if I'm trying to look chic (vs. playful or not caring)- they tend to overwhelm me even in tight form. However, all that said, I really look forward to seeing other fashionistas (including you!) sport this trend ;)
ReplyDeleteOh so good to see this post this morning. I was wandering around Tar-get last evening looking for a "different" pair of tights since our weather is trying to turn cooler for the next week. But I didn't find anything I just had to have.
ReplyDeleteI really like the Spanx you highlighted. So I may need to wander over to Nordstrom for a peek. Also, Macy's offers some very pretty patterned tights for around $14-$20.
I want some "little fat measle" tights.
ReplyDeleteI bought the argyle ones I had posted on my blog awhile back. Can't wait for an opportunity to wear them, its still not cold enough in Texas. I wouldn't want to spend more than $20 for patterned tights since they can easily go out of style. I want "little fat measles" tights too!
ReplyDeleteLove the printed tights...I passed along an award to you bc I heart your blog! http://fashiontherapist.blogspot.com/2009/10/welcome-to-chicago-zara.html
ReplyDeleteHi hun!
ReplyDeleteGreat post! I never actually use to be into tights until all the printed and color tights come out. Now, I love them! I almost bought the tights from DKNY the other day, but I am not quite sure if I could pull it off.... maybe I'll get brave...
xoxo

Love tights! The DKNY color block ones are so clever...also love the Free People pair :)
ReplyDeleteI like the lacy black ones a lot. I'm not super adventurous, so I wouldn't wear hot pink or colorblock. I do love fishnets.
ReplyDeleteMmm, loving this post.
ReplyDeleteLove the argyle tights! Too chicken to try the two-tones ones.
ReplyDeleteThe argyle ones are my favorite but I'd be afraid they'd make my legs look like stuffed saugages. :) I typically don't do prints, just colors. And I don't spend much b/c it is fairly trendy and I always snag them! Oops!
ReplyDeleteI also love tights and the printed or lace ones included, but I agree that they call a lot of attention to legs, so one must take care.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend, dear
xoxo
I have always worn and always loved patterned tights!! I am so glad they are in fashion at the mo, So I can get myself some new pairs without having to hunt everywhere for them!
ReplyDeleteSweet! Love the tights! It is getting pretty chilly here in CA! I like your blog - it is fun and fresh! A for sure follower :)
ReplyDeleteYou are right, anyone can look heavy if the print is not figure-fiendly. Vertical... and once again vertical. Zig-zagging can be fun too.
ReplyDeleteI don't usually spend enormously on tights and leggings. I swear on Dim often times... and they are pretty wallet-kind!
Oh that comment killed me, LOL.
ReplyDeleteI agree thought, one of the reasons why I love patterned tights and I buy some every year is because they add depth to my skinny chicken legs! So many styles can be had for under $20 so I don't go above that...except for the one pair of Chanels that you have too :)
i love all the tights! esp the two-tone Chanel-esque <33
ReplyDeleteI agree, there are a lot of not so expensive tights everywhere. I got me some from Forever 21 and they didn't cost more than $10 each. But I'll definitely get me some of the Spanx tights. I love it.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
I'll spend $20 tops because I don't want to spend too much money on an item I'll probably put runs or holes in! I like sheer textured tights (herringbone, pointelle, lace patterns) because they add visual interest but don't make my legs look thick.
ReplyDeletethat is some great legwear. love tights and leggings

You found so many great ones! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteGreat post. I love so many of these styles. I'm a huge Wolford and Falke fan!
ReplyDeletelove my polka dot tights so much. i just hope they don't look like measles on me. haha. love that chanel tights on the first pic. will find me some knockoffs. LOL
ReplyDeleteclick here to visit me at Mode Junkie!
the DKNY ones are far cheaper than the Chanel ones price wise - they look fab!!
ReplyDeleteThese are actually REALLY fabulous. I love them!
ReplyDeleteUgh I just don't know about this trend yet either! I think I like the more subtle look, but who knows, maybe in the dead of winter I will want to spice things up and add these tights in!
ReplyDeleteI love printed tights, but agree that I won't spend too much on them!
ReplyDeleteHi, I looove DKNY, thanks for sharing! Come check the new posts, hope you enjoy it! ;)
ReplyDeleteFollowing you via rss feed, follow me too :)

Great picks! I have to agree with you about the AA tights.. that's just too pastel for me. I'm cheaper than you.. would prob. only spend 30 bucks on tights. :)
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous weekend!
xo, Becs
this is a great post - i'm looking for the perfect pair of patterned tights! i may end up doing Spanx.

I have to admit, I tend to be a bit of a klutz. I'm always snagging my tights on things, like cabinet knobs or even my bracelets. Therefore I go "cheap" in the price range of tights. I did spend more one time as a treat for myself, and I killed them in one day.
ReplyDeleteahaha! fat measles. that is NOT good! i love the tights thing, but i don't want to spend a fortune on them.
ReplyDeletei know what u mean..i recently wore some cutout tights and i think it made my legs bigger..lol. but i love them so much that i pretend that it doesnt =)
ReplyDeleteOh love them too, but you do have to be a bit careful with them ... xxx
ReplyDeleteso sexy i love it
ReplyDeleteTights come in handy for those cooler SoCal days, but you won't see me buying a printed pair. I stick with the opaques :) The most I would spend is $30 for a pair of tights. Leggings...I tried them on and they all make me look short and my legs look huge in them!
ReplyDeletei love printed leggings. Right now am in the hunt for dots and floral colorful ones.
ReplyDeletehave a great HAlloween!
I Am Denise Katipunera
i love the DKNY ones!! as for the AA ones, i agree with you there.. they have some great stuff but others arent just my sort of thing
