Emanuel Ungaro & Lindsay Lohan: What Are They Thinking

When I heard Lindsay Lohan became the artistic advisor for the House of Emanuel Ungaro few months ago, I thought to myself these people must be desperate for publicity, good or bad. It was definitely a WTF moment. Well, I supposed Ms. Lohan should receive some credit for trying. It must be cool to play with other people's money and time. According to the folks at Ungaro, Ms. Lohan will assist to inject youthful energy to this Parisian fashion house. However I don't think I will run out as of yet to buy anything from House of Emanuel Ungaro this season. Looking at the collection, I barely liked one piece. No drooling and quickening of the heart beat when I scrolled through the collection. Yikes!!!! The first thing that came to mind was Ungaro must be trying to cut cost by making everything so skimpy and short. If I must pick a piece or two, I sorta like the fuchsia and pink strapless dress on top left. I liked the simplistic one shoulder white dress until I realized the dress might be transparent.
The pink dress is nothing to write home about and the white ???? Another WTF moment!!!
What is with the nipple sticker?
Something about the fit just does not appeal to me. Okay Savvy Gal, we need to stop now. If I can't say something nice, then I shouldn't say anything uh.... What do you think of Ungaro? Do you think Ms. Lohan should keep her job as artistic advisor?

***I am working on organizing entries for the diamond pendant giveaway. I will post the winner ASAP.

  1. I almost think the guy is courting negative publicity. Like... it was news when he hired her but it will be even bigger news when he fires her.

  5. Sometimes bad publicity can help a business. Could be a genius marketing ploy....

  6. This hire completely perplexed me- frankly I don't see why anyone would want to be associated w/ LL....and ya this was a disaster!!

  7. Those outfits are as ugly as Lindsey herself. I can't stand her!

  8. Despite the fact that I adore drapey clothing, I feel like the draping of these looks is just wrong. It doesn't fall correctly - the cuts, colors, prints....no good.

Personally, I think he was simply trying to bring new attention to his line by using a big name like Lindsay Lohan. The amount of turmoil she has been in the midst of over the past few years probably made him think it would help to boost sales, or spark interest in the collaboration...

  9. It's bad enough Lohan was a guest judge on project runway...what are her qualifications to advise any fashion house?

Yes, yes - nothing nice to say...

    Um, I like the shoes!

  10. BF thinks they hire her to get publicity and then will fire her after one season. i guess it is working b/c we are talking about how bad it is. from now, it can only go up.

  11. I'm liking just about all of those outfits, actually. I'd wear a few with some tights and platforms.

  12. I like the little heart skirt and white/black top, but that's really it....what a mistake

  13. The white dress on the top is pretty. But honestly, did anyone expect a clothing line by Lohan to be classy?

  14. lohan is a trainwreck personally and professionally. and she really has a crap sense of style.

    and

i am not digging the close above. they look a bit cheap and a bit trashy. ill-fitting. some are kind of blah and some are verging on skanky.

  15. Oh no!! I don't think I can wear any of these unless I am clubbing nightly like Ms. Lohan.

  16. I think the entire line is horrendous. I was reading an article and whats crazy to me is that they ACTUALLY took Lohan's advice. It's absolutely absurd. Why would you use someone who is constantly the face of worst-dressed lists to bring energy to a fashion house?

It's just ridiculous. The outfits are in poor taste and totally unoriginal.

  17. I saw the pictures yesterday and YIKES! Ugh just plain UGH

  18. I totally agree with you... I didn't find any "it" factor in this collection.

  19. The first two and last two looks are OK...but that's it...just OK. I really don't think she is the best person for that job.

  20. Oh gosh I read about this in the NY Times and it made me cringe. Sometimes Lilo can look good, but for the most part I just do NOT consider her a style icon, by any means. So I knew right away this union was going to be disaster. She didn't do the collection any justice.
They should have been smart and really researched an up and coming fashion designer or simply a fashionista with an amazing sense of style. They could have hired her/him for MUCH cheaper and brought some unique cool style to the brand. Plus, they could have launched the career of someone who tremendously deserved it. Such a shame.

  22. Hi, they were trying to get some publicity, but.. I don't know... I think that even Paris Hilton would be a better choice ;)

  25. i agree.. nothing much to see here.. haha

  26. I was also a bit surprised when I heard this announcement. I do like the white dress Lindsay is wearing...but why is everything so short? And yeah, what IS up with that nipple sticker? It's quite amusing. :-)

  27. Hmmm... What can I say? Lohan seems to be effecting bad aura these days. Anywhere I go (on the internet) says something negative about her. *sigh* I'm not a fan though... Poor girl...

Anyway, the clothes are indeed short. Blame it on the economy, I guess. :)

  28. By the way, if you don't mind...
How did you make your SEARCH BOX work?!! Mine are not functioning, all of them! So, I thought maybe Blogger disabled it purposely unless we buy ourselves our own domain... I did buy but the SEARCH BOX still isn't working!!! :(

  29. I'm not a fan of this collection either. The only piece that comes close for me is the pink dress and I don't think that it's even that great.

They must have been trying to get some publicity.

  30. I think the pairing was really bizarre. I can't imagine why it was done.

  31. this is disgusting and very tragic for such a fashion house. you know it's mostly the other girl designing it you know it is. it's like i should be polite, but really this is insulting. insulting to see someone that lives in the tabloids to be "directoring" an actual fashion house with some sort of history to it. i think it admirable that cortazar held onto his integrity in refusing to "collaborate" with this type of garbage, even if it got him fired.

as tim gunn said, "were the board of directors smoking crack?"

  32. I can't help but think this is a total publicity stunt. That said, the clothes look dated.

  33. I miss the fabulous Ungaro of the 80s...the floral pleats & folds glorious florals... Hope to get a vintage piece one day!

  34. Who would actually wear that??

  35. Any press is good press, unfortunately. But WTF is right! Not a fan!!

  36. I think the fit looks sloppy and lazy even on the models. If they look so bad on a model figure, how on earth would they look on a remotely curvaceous frame?

    ReplyDelete
  37. aww yeah that collection is just too sexy . i agree with you . the only thing i like is just the first pink dress . the others are just pity . yucks !

  38. I was um...speechless at this, for want of anything else to say ;)

  39. I was so taken aback by their collab...so strange to me. We shall see where this goes...

  40. should we wearing nipple sticker?? oh no...maybe next 5 years, all women doesn't need bra or tops, or anythink. we just need many collections of nipple sticker and go outside with nipple sticker and panties. yiiiekkk.......
