Long Shoulder Strap Is Back

After seasons of oversize clutches, bags and totes, I am seeing a new trend in the making. I for one am glad smaller shoulder bags are coming back. It has been years since I have carried a long strap shoulder bag. I am so used to bringing everything but the kitchen sink with me in my oversize bags, my shoulders will definitely sigh with relieve. It is time to downsize and bring only what is necessary. I will clean up and dust off my forgotten shoulder bags in the closet so these poor darlings can see the light of day once again.

I would wear long shoulder strap bags cross body with casual outfits and wear the strap on the shoulder with dressier outfits. What about you, are you ready to downsize and how will you wear this style of bags?

***I have not a chance to pick out winners for the Perricone giveaway yet. I will post it tomorrow.

  1. I love the look of the strap across the body, but it never looks good on me ...I know it sounds weird, but I have bigger boobs so it just makes them look bigger...ugh!!!! lol, but I do love the look!

  2. It will be very hard for me to downsize given my so OC personality, I want everything with me inside my bag. But I will surely use my shoulder bag, maybe for quick trips to the grocery or to the mall, strap across the body.

  7. i think a long strap med. sz bag that zips w/ compartments are the perfect travel bags. also the smaller versions seem great for a night out as well.

  8. I like this bag trend, but I would only wear for a night out bc I carry too much during the day! I really like the SR studded one you choose.

  9. I enjoy admiring all of these cute bags, but the long strap is not for me. I don't like how it screws up your proportions, making your legs look shorter... that said, a medium sized one worn cross-body comes in handy when you have a lot of stuff to lug. I will have to think about this.. :)

  10. I've had a few bags that came with a long strap recently, but they were all detachable and I wound up detaching them. Worn across the body they looked too casual for me, somehow.

  11. I was wondering what was going to be next. My only thing is putting it across my body like that.I would not want to take away from my outfit.

  12. I am actually heavily debating the purchase of a long-shoulder strap bag right now. I think I would keep it around for girls night out and such. Typically, I'm a satchel or shoulder bag kind of girl, and I carry a lot, so I'm not sure whether this would work for me or not. But I love the look - especially with the chain strap. Decisions, decisions... :)

  15. Most of the bags I own have long shoulder straps....because I am a lazy bum, haha. But no, seriously....I bike a lot and it is just so much more comfortable wearing a bag like this when you are sitting on your bicycle :-)

  20. it's sooooo hard to downsize.. when we're used to carrying... well everything.. and especially if you're on vacation.. but for a night out or running errands... i would definitely do!

  21. I'm more a smaller bag lady myself, but most of them don't have a long strap. I guess the all-time classic is a Chanel, but I don't exactly have the funds for that now. Love these options! The Minkoff Conrad is toting is pretty cool and I really like the Rykiel one as well. I might have to dig out some of my old shoulder strap bags I've neglected too...

  26. I think it'd be too difficult for me to downsize to a smaller bag. I will say that wearing a bag cross body is Mommy-friendly (free hands). And I'm really admiring that Burberry bag. ;-)

  27. I love shoulder bags! They're so convenient when you need both hands. And I love the ones you've picked out!

  28. I bought this Liz Claiborne version earlier this year. It fits more than I thought it would. I can't imagine going back to a large, shoulder-breaking bag anytime soon! http://www.zappos.com/liz-claiborne-jackie-silky-shrunken-leather-demi-crossbody-black

  30. I love that Pucci one! I don't know what I'll do with all of my stuff, though, in such a small bag. It's very versatile, though.

  31. looooove the Pucci...also wanted to tell you I got the Perricone!!!!! So excited...thanks so much....you totally rock! I can't wait to get started on my Dr. P regimen!

  32. Oh I'm so bad about downsizing. Whenever I travel or have some event to go to where my hands need to be free I wear a long-strapped small purse, but I'm so used to my large purse (with all of my "necessities" in it) that I feel like I'm missing something and less organized when I go smaller. Let us know how your down-sizing goes!

  33. That studded Sonia Rykiel is just wonderful! I would love the own that!

  34. I've been thinking about downsizing too and want to get one of these small cross body bags. I use one now for when I shoot weddings and I actually like the look and am now looking for one to just wear regularly.
