There is a new trend in town. Apparently Mr. Armani is thinking school girl chic for 09 F/W season with knee high socks with heels and oxfords.

The idea is really cute if I am a teenager. I am just not so sure if this look is going to be savvy on a grown mature adult. Will you wear knee high socks with mini silk dresses?

This look is rather cute, but I will look like I am trying to be 16 again. What do you think?

I might wear wool skirts or shorts with knee high socks.

For me, I think I will do knee high socks with boots, wool shorts, and layer a chunky cardigan or vest over a white blouse for that simple casual scholastic look. Of course, I will finish the look with a colorful scarf or bag to complete the look. Hopefully this Valentino tote might go on sale in time for me to wear with all my winter outfits. I can hope, right!

What do you think of this look and how will you wear knee high socks this fall?
I like these looks, but the bag is so fab!

These looks are so Blair Waldorf - especially number two. Oh, and Cher from Clueless. I'm not sure if I will be rocking knee-high socks; I'm more of a tights girl myself. Though I do love the style! :)
ReplyDeleteLooks like it could be a hard look to go for if you're not a teen/early 20s. But I do like your outfit idea, of making it just that little more sophisticated. And yum that tote is gorgeous! Hope you're having a lovely day :)
ReplyDeleteOhh I love the knee high socks. I grew up on Clueless and I remember when it first came out the trend began to grow again. I would so rock these socks with a cute skirt. :)
ReplyDeleteI am not sure if I will wear the knee high sock look. All the models look very nice but I agree with Cafe Fashionista, I would do tights instead. I like how you put the outfit together.
ReplyDeleteI love this look, it's so saucy and prim at the same time! Hmm maybe it's the length of the skirt, not the knee socks that makes this look seem restrictive age-wise. Perhaps a closer to the knee hemline would work better.
ReplyDeleteKnee high socks should be left to teenagers.
ReplyDeleteFantastic trendspotting, darling! Love the selection of runway images! Since I am no longer in my teens or twenties, I probably won't try this trend, but I think it's super-chic when age-appropriate!

hmm... i'm not sure if knee high socks will look
ReplyDeletegood on me. but there's no harm in trying so, i will
try wearing them on fall.
Thanks for reading la vie...j'aime!
ReplyDeleteI agree, that is kind of a juvenile, NYC prep trend. It's cute but w/ the right outfit to make it a bit more mature.
I'll stick to the knee high boots. Although the socks are adorable, i don't think i could pull it off.
ReplyDeleteI'm really not a fan of knee highs for socks. I think they remind me too much when I had to wear uniforms in grade school.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the look on young gals. Not for me. Ooh, bad. Boots yes. Socks no.
ReplyDeleteThe knee highs remind me of the movie Clueless. :)
ReplyDeleteHa I was just going to say how it reminds me of Clueless too! I think boots are perfect...but not so much the socks, maybe if I was a little younger! Also makes me think of Gossip Girl too! :)
ReplyDeleteWow that bag is amazing!!
thanks for the get well wishes, I'm just like you-when I get sick, I get SICK-there is no middle ground!
Hope you have a great weekend Savvy!! XO
Reminds me of Gossip Girl but I love it. :-)
ReplyDeleteXoXO
I think it's doable...if you can do knee-high boots, why not socks, right? It depends on the overall outfit.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure how I feel about it. I definitely couldn't pull it off, that's for sure.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't wear knee socks, but I do love knee high boots. and that short vest is so cute! have a wonderful weekend! xo
ReplyDeleteThis trend reminds me of Anna Sui's babydoll trend circa 1990s. Hmmm...I can't say it's for me either. I'd rather wear black tights!
ReplyDeleteKnee socks look so stylish on people in their 20s and younger.
ReplyDeletehave a fun weekend!
As a 30-something, I will just stick with knee high boots. Knee high socks, I will leave to my teenage nieces.
ReplyDeleteI didn't play but he came away with a small profit. :) Actually, it's been a while since that has happened...hehe. Omg, funny how you talk about "donating" b/c that is the exact term we use too! XD
ReplyDeleteI agree with you that wearing these may make you look young. I certainly can't afford to look any younger, but love this look on the runway and when I see other fashionistas wearing them. I just could never pull them off.. only like you had mentioned with tall boots is when I'd consider wearing them.

The bag is great :).
ReplyDeleteI don't know... I wear knee socks since I'm 13. So I don't think it's something special that's worth a discussion :).
hahaha I LOVE knee high socks omg. I wear them all the time in end of summer/fall. I love that preppy school look!
ReplyDeleteI like the socks, but not with silk dresses. They'd be cute with a wool skirt for work though.
ReplyDeletehmm it might be. never hurts to try it out in the safety of your home before you wearit out .
ReplyDelete:)
I love these looks, but don't think I'm brave enough to go for it. Thanks for stopping by my blog!
ReplyDeleteI like these socks, but only on young teenagers. Boots, yes!
ReplyDeleteI like this look especially, but I don't think I have the legs for it, and socks sound too fussy. I think I'll stick with hose or tights.
ReplyDeleteyes i love knee high socks! and thigh high stay ups...
ReplyDeletei think it doesnt matter what age you are, if it is your style you should wear it.
x
No , although I like the look it just won't work for me. I would look like I was trying to be a teenager.
ReplyDeleteI'm not one to say *never* but I must admit I have a few knee highs I bought just for this purpose...but have never worn them yet, LOL. Have a lovely weekend, SG :)
ReplyDeleteKnee highs are hot. Love the preppy look.
ReplyDeleteI adore knee highs! i just feel, like u, i am to old for them. i need to get the guts to just wear them because i really like them a lot!
ReplyDeleteI love this look. Over-the-knee seems to be a little more mature/sexy and less schoolgirl connotations...
ReplyDeleteso cute!
ReplyDeleteso vintage!
so sweet!
:)
I think I'd only bee brave enough to do it with boots, LOL!
ReplyDeleteI do love knee high socks always have - methinks Mr Armani is a couple of seasons behind London street style!
ReplyDeleteI love the second picture, so stunning!
ReplyDeleteI think that the look is adorable...but for women under 30, especially with short wool skirts and shorts.
ReplyDeleteFor women over 30 it's all about the boots.
i like knee high socks. if i'm a school girl now, i will never wear a knee high socks at shool because teacher and friends will say i looks like a soccer, and they will laugh at me. on this age, i will wearing knee high socks with a boots or ankle boots. i think it will looks casual chic and sexy
ReplyDeleteI loooove knee socks. I do agree that it can be a bit harder of a style to pull off if you aren't a teenager, but I think as long as the rest of the result stays more "mature" looking it's fine.
ReplyDeleteI'll be rocking them with my Lulu peep toe pumps this fall, definitely. I'm 27, so I have to do it while I still can! :D
hi there
ReplyDeletei'm having the same wondering problem!!
i'm 22 and i'm a BIG fan of knee high socks but i don't know if i can rock that look!!!
well the person before me gave me some courage and definitely great "envie" to do that knee high look when i can!!!
btw that bag is soooooo beautiful!
Dear Anonymous:
ReplyDeleteYou can def rock that knee high look. go for it.
I just love to wear knee high socks!!!I'm over 30,and think it's a look that almost every one can pull off.Just do it,and if anyone laughs or stares,so what!!
ReplyDeleteI don't think mature women look good like that as in the photos above, they would have look fabulous in stockings/tights so what is the point, the knee highs aren't making anyone look better by drawing focus to the knees, not the prettiest part of the legs. It is only cute on someone young enough, under 25 at least, but maybe even under 23 and maybe depends where. If you are school girl age and it's cute, great, if you are a bit older, 20s, but you are wearing it for sexy night club/fetish looks great. But if you are mid 20s and older and wearing it in the light of day as a casual outfit or to an office or some other classy event, I say NO!
ReplyDeleteWhats the big deal...Girls and older college girls and even moms of all ages wore knee socks in the 50's 60's and 70's...Most were the cable knit type..It's a nice fashion look...I think the short ankle socks are more for kids.....
