Back in the days, I used to believe a gal can massage, apply cream, and/or eat diet pills to rid of fat instead of exercise and healthy eating. After discussing this with a plastic surgeon pal, he tried to sell me the Golden Gate Bridge after hearing the massage and cream methods. He must be thinking why is she so gullible. As the story goes, a friend tells me of a popular massage method which a gal is encouraged to eat all the fatty food prior to her massage session. The masseuse claimed she could massage fat from the stomach region into the boob area. That sounded pretty good, right? A gal gets to eat and get bigger boobs at the same time. Quite a few gal pals went through these massage sessions. They did get bigger boobs but from fried chickens rather than massage sessions.

Anyway, I found out we are born with a set number of fat cells. As we gain weight, each cell becomes bigger and as we lose weight, each cell becomes smaller. Thus our body changes according to these changes. Big cells, a gal looks bigger; smaller cells, a gal looks skinnier. Fat cells are held together with connective tissues like other cells in a body so if anyone tries to massage the cells apart, internal bleeding and major bruising will surely occur.
Basically to look skinnier, a gal needs to either go through liposuction to actually surgically removed fat issues or make sure fat cells become smaller through diet and exercise. Liposuction can assist to rid of fat cells in a specific area but once those fat cells are gone and a person gains weight, those extra calories have to be stored somewhere else. Thus, wouldn't other fat cells become even bigger causing certain regions of the body gain even more weight and looking bigger due to uneven distribution of fat as result of liposuction. Hmmm.... diet and exercise sound pretty good to me now. I figure there is really no easy short cut to weight management and looking skinnier. By exercising, I will gain muscle and body definition, and smaller fat cells which will allow me to have more energy, and looking my best without any negative side effects of surgery or pills. What do you think, which method do you prefer exercise or lipo? What is the craziest getting rid of fat story you have heard?
I rather exercise. Maybe ill consider lipo after having kids.
ReplyDeleteI think I'll opt for exercise for now, but I'm not ruling out anything in the future... I think that lemon juice and cayenne pepper diet/cleanse is the craziest thing I've heard of, beside invasive surgery.

I'm with Carrie on her first point...I'd never rule anything out but for now...I'm sticking to torturing myself on the elliptical machine! as for the craziest diet...the cabbage soup diet. My mother and her sisters used to do it and our house stunk from it. lol.
ReplyDeleteThank goodness i have good genes! No exercise...and definately NO lipo.
ReplyDeletei feel scared now. haha.
ReplyDeletei've heard of people getting lipo then having the fat just moved to more desirable places.. curiouser and curiouser!
um, if that's true about the boobs, sign me up!
ReplyDeletehey dear! missed your blog while on my vacay! great piece honey and i dont get much exercise and so should. I am squirmish and super scared of needles etc so Lipo is a no no for me :o)

That's very interesting. Liposuction seems scary because of all the blood clot horror stories of people. Plus it's the lazy way out. I've heard of some girl that yearly goes to get liposuction on her thighs. It's just pure laziness on the fact that she doesn't want to eat healthy nor exercise.
ReplyDeleteLIPO! Maybe not now, but I'm not ruling it out.
ReplyDeleteThe lemon juice/cayenne miracle cleanse works for the very short term, and you feel like you're going to die, but almost kind of high...I don't recommend it unless its absolutely necessary.
I need to get off my ass and do my pilates. :)
thanks for sharing! :)

Def exercise and eat right, id consider lipo if I had the money :)
ReplyDeletehm.... according to my friend, lipo should be painful. imagine sucking something out of the body and the surgeon has to break tissues up first. yikes. exercise for now.
ReplyDeleteCardio, cardio, cardio. I wish it was easier said than done! Sometimes it gets so boring though.
ReplyDeleteHi, I just found your blog. Love it.
ReplyDeleteYou know, I used to weigh 95 - 100 pounds (I'm 5'1 with Chinese-Filipino heritage). I smoked to keep the weight down as well. But after quitting smoking and having a baby, I am now 115 pounds. I just want to lose another 10 pounds, but it's so damn hard! I am begging for a lipo--haha! Maybe after baby no. 2 (if he/she happens). I'm too lazy to go to the gym because I feel guilty about spending less time with my daughter, when I already do because of my sideline writing and blogging gigs! What to do, what to do???
Ha ha! Fried chicken DOES give you bigger boobs LOL! The weirdest diet I've ever tried was the cabbage soup diet. OH MY! It just gave me gas :(
ReplyDeleteTalking to my doctor he told me as I age, my metabolism lowers, therefore I gained weight. In order to higher my metabolism, I need to walk everyday. It's the steady exercise, not the heavy exercise that will increase it. Heavy workouts at the gym is great to loose weight. But after you loose the weight and don't stay with it, the weight comes right back on.
So I guess I'm the turtle, slow and steady :)
I dont think I could do lipo - the thought just grosses me out/scares me. So hauling myself to the gym i suppose!
ReplyDeletehiii...i fell scared. i will do exercise!!!
ReplyDeleteanyway, my boobs already big, hehehe..
I plan to go to Thailand & do lipo...heard it's spa like fab* well, we'll see??? PS: an Award is waiting for you darling... XO*
ReplyDeleteExercise is the best way to look great and be healthy! If I would be a plastic surgeon I'll be broke because I'm always trying to convince people not to have plastic surgery.:) It's risky, expensive and there are no guarantees that you'll look fabulous after that.
ReplyDeleteLOL, I'm happy you stopped by on my blog and loved the wedding cake on the sidebar :-) By the way I'm against any strict diet. I vote for exercise 4 times a week and spaghetti carbonara :-) (oh not to mention the fresh baked bread)
ReplyDeletei'd rather exercise! haha

that boob thing sounds great to me too!
ReplyDeleteI'll just try to exercise:)
Well after reading all the posts I feel I should share what has happened to my mother. She was always a very small petite woman 5'3" about 115 lbs with an A cup. After her 3rd child w/c-section she was left with a large fub which she was very self conscious of but still remained small everywhere else. At the age of about 48 she decided to get a tummy tuck, lipo, and these huge double D's.... she has since gained a lot of weight all over, her tummy is still not as fub as it was pre-op, but the rest of her is huge. I mean her arms have cellulite now! After reading the above posts I do believe that the fat cells need somewhere else to go and in my mom's case, they found it. I will not get anything done after seeing my mother's aftermath. Sad thing is she thinks she looks good and continues to get injections, laser and other treatments which we all think look hideous. Poor Mum
