Toms Shoes: Comfortable & Charitable

I want to thank folks over at Toms Shoes for sending me this pair of cutest tiny tot shoes. I want to mention they are doing something wonderful for less fortunate children around the world. For every pair of shoes purchase by a consumer, another pair of shoes will be donated to a child in need. This is the One for One commitment which the company stands firmly behind. As much as it's important to safeguard financial bottom lines in this economy; it's warming for me to see a company giving back by helping out those less fortunate. Toms Shoes has already donated 10,000 pairs of shoes to children in Argentina and expects to donate an estimated 50,000 pairs to children in Africa.

Back to gushing about the cute tote shoes. I was going to pick something for myself but didn't know if I would actually wear them. To be honest, I was a little skeptical initially but I liked the kids collection so being the loving aunt, I picked a pair (navy with natural canvas) for my nephew. The canvas material is very soft, to my surprise. And, I was right, the pair I picked out for my nephew is very darling. The insole is made of leather and soft to the touch. Also there is plenty of cushion for the sole.
The sole is made of rubber with anti-slip feature. I am very careful about giving things to my niece and nephew. I actually managed to put part of my foot inside to make sure the shoe will not slip on wood floor and stone floor.
My nephew is very picking about hard shoes, so I am happy to report this pair is quite flexible.
And, I don't know if you have helped a tot put on shoes before, but I am glad there is a Velcro feature which will make our lives so much easier as my nephew has no patience with us. He is in his Terrible 2 phase. After seeing this pair of tots shoes, I can see myself wearing a pair to run errands around town during summer time. To be honest, these shoes will not be on the cover of Vogue but they are comfortable and I like the cause. I can imagine myself dressing casual chic (flowy tunic with a pair of fitted shorts) with these shoes because they are kinda cute. I already have my eyes on the red or the bright ombre yellow/orange. I figure the red will cost me $58 and yellow $68 but if the company will donate another pair to a child in need then the cost per pair is really only $29 and $34. Tiny Tom shoes starts at about $34 per pair. Check Toms Shoes out, I think we should all help out if possible. If you are already going to buy similar shoes then why not make sure a child in need gets something to wear instead of going barefoot.

  20. Yay for companies who actually give back instead of making a gratuitous gesture! Too bad your nephew's shoes don't come in adult sizes, they're too cute.
