For an evening out, I will pick a light as air maxi dress in silk or chiffon material to wear with chunky heels, a piece of dramatic jewelry and a fun clutch to finish the outfit. My must have will be a dramatic piece of necklace but earrings or a chunky bracelet will be great as well. A gal needs to be BOLD this season!

2. BCBG ombre maxi dress $498
3. Diane von Furstenberg orange print maxi dress $895 via Saks
4. T Bag pink/print maxi dress $229 vis Shopbop
For a casual daytime look, I have a tendency to pick solid color maxi dresses in comfortable cotton or jersey material. With this look, I will prefer to wear flat sandals or flip flops if I am going to the beach for lunch or to walk around. For those petite gals, you don't have to go without maxi dresses this season. A gal with shorter stature can wear a shorter maxi dress like No 8.

6. Design History $135 via Saks
7. Banana Republic green maxi dress $130
8. Lauren by Ralph Lauren $178 via Nordstrom --- perfect for petite gals
So savvy gals, do you already have a favorite maxi dress or are you still shopping for one?
They are all so lovely, but I'm loving dress number 1!!
ReplyDeleteI'm way too short to wear Maxi dresses. I just don't understand how Rachel Bilson manages to get away with them every summer and looks amazing! The Pucci one is stunning.
ReplyDeletelove them too - just never find the right occasion to wear them!
ReplyDeleteI really love the looks you've pulled, but at 5' tall I really have to focus on fit. I like the body conscious fit of the banana republic dress & the blue design history dresses. For me, fit is everything. Oddly, I didn't like the maxi dresses when they hit the scene a few years/seasons back. But now I love the idea! And I Gree, grab a clutch and you are out the door. How easy & chic is that? Me likey. Me likey!
ReplyDeleteHa! Sorry for the typo above. I'm on my iPhone this morning...I was saying "I agree" about the clutch ;)
ReplyDeleteI am in love with Gucci and Etro!

Hi there-lovely picks my dear, I really like the TBags one! I'm still on the hunt for one!
ReplyDeleteI saw Halle Berry wearing one to a primier, and she looks gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteAs an utter shortie, I'm kinda skeptical about this trend for me, but I think if girls of shorter stature chooses slightly shorter hems as you've suggested, and a slightly tighter fit, they can pull this off too!
ReplyDeletehaha I just went Maxi dress shopping this weekend! Unfortunately I didnt get one yet... Maybe better luck next week!
ReplyDeleteIt is funny these dresses are in style just as Bea Arthur dies. When I see a Maxi-dress I think of Maude.
ReplyDeleteThey're so willowy and feminine! I love all the bright colors and floral patterns :)
ReplyDeleteI never feel comfortable in maxi dresses. Maybe because I'm short (5'1 1/2). I just feel as if they swallow me up. On tall people, however, they are breathtaking.
ReplyDeletei am at 5'4" as well, but i adore maxi dresses. i will try to look for ones with fitted bodice and perhaps a little flair at the bottom.
ReplyDeletethey always remind me of vacation for some reason. i would love to wear the Chelsea Flowers one in costa rica this summer!
ReplyDeleteOh I love maxi dresses. I bought two casual ones last year, I think they will be ok for this season.

ReplyDeleteI have purchased a few this season already. I am wearing my dresses with color cardigans so far.
ReplyDeleteI am about 5'2" but I have successfully pull off maxi dress. I just look for ones with shorter length and fitted top.
