While visiting various places in my travel, I have encountered counterfeit bags at such discounted price I must say can be quite tempting. But, I usually stop myself because I know these bags are fake myself even if no one else knows it. And, these designs are intellectual properties. It's wrong to just copy and paste someone's work. Besides, if I own a brand, I will be so unhappy to see counterfeits. So let me ask you, do you fake it or only the real thing will do?

Bags, do you Fake it?

I don't like buying counterfeit goods.
ReplyDeleteIt's against the law.

I don't do fake either...it's just not the same as owning the real thing. I don't buy things to flaunt in front of other people, I buy them because I like them and I don't like fake. :)
ReplyDeleteI don't ever really splurge on the real thing but I don't do the fake counterfeits either. I usually just go w/ a cheaper non-knockoff brand like Nine West or something. Although I love my Coach tote I got last fall.
ReplyDeleteI don't do fakes ... always seemed tacky to me.
ReplyDeleteI bought one once, and after a week I decided "No" and bought the real thing. But I have received fakes as gifts from my future mother in law (in the past she had frequent business trips to Asia). I didn't know how to tell her and didn't want to hurt her feelings. Thank goodness she switched careers.
ReplyDeleteI don't do fakes either. If I can't afford it, then I don't buy it. Part of owning a branded item is the pride and experience that you own one. Where is that with a fake? It's like buying "Louis Button" lol
ReplyDeleteI just can't bring myself to buy fake bags...like you said, even if no one else knows I know deep down that I'm a fraud. There's something tacky about owning a fake - if I don't have the money for a real bag, why convince people that I do?
ReplyDeleteI don't think I could buy a fake, either. I'd rather work hard to get the real deal. It's a way of me saying I'm proud of myself.
ReplyDeleteSuper rude! I have not ever purchased a fake either. I have been tempted to buy fake LV luggage, but couldn't get over the tacky factor.
ReplyDeleteI don't fake it either. I need quality above all in a handbag (I feel like I'm kind of rough on them) and fake ones just aren't going to work for me. Plus I agree that if I had a brand of my own I would not want it copied.
ReplyDeleteI cannot believe she asked you that!!! How rude!!
i faked a few times in the past, but felt like a HUGE LOSER when people would compliment my bag (or ask if it was a fake) and i'd have to fess up. now i try to get the real deal on sale, as i can't afford a lot of these fab bags that are available!
ReplyDeleteand i agree with you that it isn't right to do. it is not fair to the designer. i have lived and learned!
only the real one comes with me... that's for sure!
ReplyDeleteI don't do fakes. It's the most label-whorish thing you can do, IMO. It shows you only care about the name (or in convincing people that you have something with that name) and not about the quality.
ReplyDeleteHow rude was she?
ReplyDeleteNo, I don't use fake bags but I don't buy designer either. When I go to a REAL store looking for a purse I buy what I like for a reasonable price.
Jeez, no one has ever asked me whether a bag was fake--that's kind of rude! I don't do fakes either but pass no judgement on those who do!! I figure if I can't afford it, I probably shouldn't get it :-)
ReplyDeleteI don't buy fake because if I really want it at an affordable price I just go outlet shopping. BTW I have a little award waiting for you over here: http://trischexpress.blogspot.com/2009/03/pop-art-alizee-inspiration.html
ReplyDeleteTrisch xo
I've bought fakes in the past, the secret is to buy a fake bag because you like the fake bag, not because you think it looks like the real thing; it never does.
ReplyDeleteThe only problem with fakes is when everyone is carrying a knock off speedy or 2.55, it just kills off the luxury of the real deal.
x
I "Coach" it! They are reasonable enough that I have the REAL thing!
ReplyDeleteNo I don't buy fake, (except fake fur ;) ).
ReplyDeleteI prefer not to buy a brand too expensive and buy something of another brand.
xoxo
Ah, yes, I agree with The Seeker... faux is for fur. xxx
ReplyDeleteGoodness, people can ask such intimate questions! I don't like fakes either; I'll always choose one good item over five cheaper ones.
ReplyDeleteI've never bought a fake. It would too embarassing if someone called me out on it!
ReplyDeleteSomeone did give me a fake bag as a present once. It's still sitting in the back of a drawer. I think I will donate it.
I don't do fake and I don't have enough money to buy a Channel dream, I mean bag lol.
ReplyDeletehow rude of that woman!! to answer your question, i once got a fake balenciaga moto bag and i wore it until it started fading...hmm!
ReplyDeletei can usually tell with fake bags. most of the fakes look fake from a mile away.
