2. IWC Portofino about $3000 and up --- This simple watch is actually for savvy guys but SG is enamour with oversize watches currently. It's larger but not overwhelming.
3. Patek Philippe about $58,000 if lucky enough to locate one --- I tried this one on at a Patek party and fell in adoration ever since. But, I think it's too pricey for me now.
4. Burberry $395 --- Burberry is not known for watches but I like the classic simple shape. A guy or gal can wear this for years. And, it's similar to Cartier Pasha for a much savvier price.
5. Swatch Stainless Steel $150 --- It's another simple classic watch for those who do not wish to spend an arm and a leg to tell time.
6. Rolex Date Just Mid-size about $6000 and up --- I am drooling over mid-size Rolex right now. Larger size Rolex is sportier. Mid-size is great for those with small wrist but still want a oversize watch. Besides, it's a Rolex!
7. Tag Heuer Link about $1700 --- Tag watches are classic, sporty and very solid in quality with fairly reasonable price for novice watch collectors.
8. Chanel J12 about $4200 and up --- Chanel J12 put ceramic watches in the fashion limelight. J12 model is very simple and savvy for fashionable trendy gals.
When shopping for watches with huge ticket prices, always ask for a break. After all, a savvy gal/guy will look for the best without paying the most. What is your classic watch?

i'll take the swatch!!
ReplyDeletei have a watch fetish. i may have 20 or so (at least half of them need new batteries) and i have 3 swatch watches:) they are by far my fave.
I actually prefer the pink one before :P But I have always had a soft spot for swatch watches! They always look so good
ReplyDeletei like some of the watches from breil, but they are a bit out of my price range.
ReplyDeleteHi there-I love the Swatch watch, very nice indeed!
ReplyDeleteI love an oversize menswear watch - the Chanel J12 is gorgeous! My dream watch is Cartier tank!

I have a white Chanel J12 for years and still love it today.
ReplyDeleteooooh the hubby just got me a tag for my birthday.. sorta like #7 but with the bling on the dial :)
ReplyDeleteFor my 16th birthday, I received a Cartier tank watch from my grandfather...it is so beautiful, so that is absolutely my favorite timepiece ever.
ReplyDeleteLucky gal. I have the Cartier Santos, love it for every day.
ReplyDeleteI'm on the hunt for a new watch as well. I've been wearing the same Burberry one for over two years now and I want a bigger face. {although I still like the one I have} It's time to upgrade ...but I don't want to fork over the dough!
ReplyDeleteI have been looking for a chunky menswear watch for a while now, but haven't found the perfect one. Also, I nominated you for a blog award, so check out HiS to see it!
ReplyDeletei love classic, menswear watches =]

i love watches...my favorite would have to be my vintage gold breitling that FM gave. it used to belong to his mother.
ReplyDeleteand i can't believe that's a swatch. i bought FM a men's J12 for xmas one year and i sadly report that the quality is crap. we've taken it for repairs several times and the people at chanel even told me that they have a lot of problems w/the latch and the watch just not working properly.
My cup of tea would be a Cartier... ;)

yikes, that is not good. i have a couple chanel watches and they are alright. my friends have diamond chanel j12 and no prob so far. i tend to buy watch from watch makers since watches are so pricey.
ReplyDeleteI have yet to find a watch I love. thanks for the finds!
ReplyDeletei'd never pay thousands of dollars for a watch. but my favorite is a concertina. it's feminine, classic, over ten years old and it still keeps great time.
ReplyDeleteThese are some great picks. I have had my Movado since I was 19 and it is still going. I've only changed the battery once. It goes with everything and it's classy.
ReplyDeleteMine is a Men's Seiko.
ReplyDeleteEven though they're all gorgeous, I'm all for the rolex or tag!
