For BF's birthday, we went to Mastro's Ocean Club located in Newport Coast. It was a wonderful dinner looking with a lovely sunset in the background. The restaurant's ambiance is polish with clubby sort of feel. Our server was wonderful and very attentive. This is a great restaurant to celebrate special occasions. We ordered a seafood tower with giant prawn and oysters on half shelves. Those prawn are huge, about 3~4 inches. There are different seafood choices, so each table can mix and match according to the taste and mood.
We ordered a seafood tower, filet steak (super tender cooked exactly to specification), saute scallop, a salad to split, and 2 side vegetable dishes. We were charged $25 for corkage fee. FYI for those who may want to visit Mastro's, expect to spend about $200 ~ $250 per couple for a 3 course meal with a glass of wine or one cocktail and coffee, including tax and tip. I almost forgot to add Mastro's offers the best bread choices (5 different types). My favorite is the preztel bread. Our breads were hot to touch when our server put the basket on the table. At the end of our meal, our server presented us with a lovely birthday chocolate cake with a pink candle. At the time of reservation, I informed the gal on the other side about the birthday occasion. Since it was a special celebration, I dressed up for dinner.
