Annoying LV Pochette

After my issue with a different yellow Epi Louis Vuitton bag, SG is ready to scream when I see this the other day. How is this possible, where is the LV quality as the sales explains when selling us that thousand dollar bag? Or, is LV so popular that we should just take whatever?I don't think going into the boutique seeking assistance will solve my problem; they will tell me to buy a replacement because surely it can't be their fault. I must have used the strap incorrectly. Years ago I had to purchase a replacement strap for another pochette when my cute innocent Doxie mistook the strap for her chew toy. The retail cost back then was about $60 when the pochette was only a little over $200. Now a replacement pochette retails for $435 so I expect the replacement strap to be at least $100, if the color is available. I am just angry that I have to pay for something when it's not even my fault.
And, speaking of LV quality, what about rust and discoloration on the hardware? Does this happen to you? I am going resolve these issues by myself and I will update when I have a solution.Looking at my yellow Epi pochette, if I didn't buy it at a LV boutique, I would think I got taken for a fake bag! Do you have a LV story? Let's hear it!

  1. The same thing happened to the strap of a Calvin Klein Collection bag I have - very annoying!

  2. Hi there-I had an LV pochette from the Sloane Street store, and the glue was really visible on the interior. I wasn't impressed. I sold it on ebay about a year later. like you say, if you hadn't of bought it yourself at the store, you would think it was fake. Its not expected of their stature I don't think.

  3. Thank you for this post. I've been debating between a Gucci and an LV. Hearing the problems you've had I'm definitely going with the Gucci. I agree...the more popoular a bag the more lazy they get on the quality. I've never even had a Coach bag end up rusting or coming apart. I hope you are able to resolve your rust issue.

P.S. If you want to see my handbag debate I posted about it on Thursday. :)

I hope everything works out ok.

  5. Why are you assuming they'll make you pay for the strap? I think that's a pretty clear repair for them to do.

  6. I asked a friend who used to be a LV manager, she told me it's been too long so I would have to pay for it.

  7. You can still try despite knowing an ex-employee! I'm sure you can be persuasive. No one wants a scene in their store -- it's much harder to blow someone off in person than it is on the phone.

  8. O.M.G. i am so annoyed w/LV, too. the straps on my mahina where they're connected to the bag is completely falling apart. i wanted to take it back to LV but don't want to deal w/it and having to wait for them to send it out to get repaired - who knows how long that'll take. it's so embarrassing cuz it looks like i'm carrying a fake. so do you know a good bag repair place in the area? haha

  10. Wendy, you are sooo right. Having a scene in the store is the last thing they want. I know how to work the system if I want to but I just don't know if I want to take the time for an old pochette.

  11. I have not had too many issues with my LV bags. One of the straps of my Chanel bags started coming apart so I took it to our Nordstrom Chanel Boutique who sent it off to be repaired. I can only hope that LV would do the same!

  12. The magnetic clasp on my Furla is tearing out from the leather. In the mean time I used masking tape so that it can't pull out further, but I'm not using the tote because people will see. I have no idea what to do about it.

  15. If the strap split into two, it maybe cheap to just buy a new strap. That is what my friend ending up doing.

  16. I am going into LV tomorrow to purchase a new strap. I am told they can attach it and it will cost £47 (I think)....Not entirely sure how they will get it on though -- but the brass and hardware problem is really a pain! I have even used brass cleaner which has no effect at all....this really needs sorting at these prices.
