A gal can count on Valentino for romantic yet classic ready to wear and I am not disappointed. SG likes layers of ruffles peeping from under the black slim skirt, making this look unique and oh so feminine. Without the slip, the same outfit would have been nice but nothing to write home about. With the added ruffles at the hemline, the outfit becomes savvy worthy in my eyes!

-Cream dress with ruffle showing by Fendi, $2450
-Burrey with tulle showing for child, $185 (Savvy Niece would adore this!)

Oh, I like this look although my mother, had she been alive, would've been utterly horrified. I don't think it'll last very long however. As Oscar Wilde said, "Fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we have to alter it every six months."
ReplyDeleteNo one told Mr. Wilde that fashion is in cycles though.
great! the dresses on the first pic are so beautiful.

ReplyDeleteThis is a cute look. I love a pretty slip. Strangely they are kind of hard to find.
ReplyDeleteit's not a classical look but it's different.
ReplyDeleteI have layered skirt that I bought from "Sisley" this summer, I love it! I would like to have that peach-color dress, so cute!
ReplyDeleteI don't necessarily love the actual slip showing, but I do like the look of it, if that makes sense.
ReplyDeleteI do have a couple of skirts where it has a sewn in layer that is longer than the skirt, which I really like.
You can definitely diy it, I love the idea of this look it's so feminin.
ReplyDeleteHi savvy-brilliant, especially as an extra layer, plus soo pretty too-fab idea!!
ReplyDeletehmm this gives me an idea
ReplyDeleteI've got a skirt w/ a lace slip showing but the skirt is pink leopard...satin...so, not "cool" like you may think
uh oh
now I am torn.
Yeah, they do look great.
ReplyDeleteI love black lacey slips! And Valentino is fabulous, too. His works are always so elegant and refined.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, I love this look.
ReplyDeleteSo feminime.
xoxo
Oh I must say showing off a slip is sometimes so tempting, since slips are often so lacy and beautiful, so it's quite lovely to see them making an appearence in these looks! :)

ReplyDeleteMmhmm I think lace slips under skirts/dresses are incredibly sexy.
ReplyDeleteI do love this look--it reminds me of something I used to do (so I'll have to post about it!). Thanks for the inspiration!! xxoo
ReplyDeleteIt can look cute if done well -- I have a couple bright vintage slips that i like to let peep out under dresses.
ReplyDeleteAnd it looks sooo sexy - a little piece of Slip showing !!!
ReplyDeleteI am a Man and i dislike girls or women wearing slips specially if it's showing, It gives me the creeps.
