Watch is not just for keeping time, for Vivianna Torun, a watch is a piece of art free from the constraint and passing of time since it is impossible to tell time with her original design. She designed this open stainless steel bangle style watch for an exhibit at the Louvre in 1962. Since she dislikes constraint of time, she designed a watch as a piece of art, rather than for keeping time, without hour and minutes hands. Gerog Jensen added hour and minute hands after this open bangle model went into production in 1967. This watch has become an icon within the Georg Jensen watch collection. I had the pleasure of meeting her personally at a Georg Jensen cocktail party years ago and she was as gracious as talented. A savvy gal after my own heart, she was the first Swedish gal to set up her own silver workshop.
I admire this open style watch for its beauty as a piece of jewelry and functionality for time keeping. The retail price for the smaller bangle (27mm) watch is $2200. There is a larger dial in 34 mm and bangle sizes come in XXS, XS, S and M. Savvy gals, is it savvy worthy for you too?
