Fall Trend 08: Leopard Print

SG really does not know what to make of this trend, leopard print. On the one hand, this pattern is quite eye catching but on the other hand, I usually see more mature gals wearing leopard print pieces. This season, it appears to be quite the mode du jour, especially at D & G and YLS. I am not against leopard print, but a coat or a dress really is quite over the top for me. A gal pal adores leopard print and she carries her leopard print coat with aplomb but it's not for everyone. 1. D & G Bubble Trench $3495 (if SG has to pick one to wear with solid color top and pants)
2. D & G Cocktail Dress $2350
3. D & G Satin Blouse $995
4. Tory Burch $275
5. Michael by Michael Kor $158
6. Chloe Faux Fur $1130
Manolo Blahnik Leopard Print Clutch $1355
Christian Louboutin $625

Instead, SG adores leopard print accessories. Such pieces add interest and style without having too much of the good thing. So do you have a leopard print piece for the season yet?

  1. I love that print,
I´ve got a Mango´s silk blouse + dress, H&M scarf, Zara´s jacket and accesories from Massimo Dutti.
I feel really comfortable + feminine wearing it!

  2. OK, so now I have an actual, visual reason to try an attempt to save my money! Maybe making it my go-to-screen saver will help!

  5. I've been once seen wearing a pair of shoes with that kind of pattern but that will be as far as I'd go.

yes accessories are a lot easier to play with I think.

and i agree, a leopard print trench is a little too much for me. but the shoes or the clutch are perfect!

  14. I think I'd do a scarf, a heel, or a clutch to keep it simple. I love the print but dont know if I could wear it as a garment. Accessories it is! :)

  15. I love leopard print, but like you, only in accessories. It adds a nice touch without being over done =)

  18. I love the trend but I think it's quite difficult to combine it... becuase it can look really cheap and "bitchy" you know what I mean???

  21. Too much leopard for me in those pieces. I did like the Ralph Lauren belt, though. Nice...

  22. Love the print. It always make me think of Gwen Stefani and that dress she wore (similar to the D&G cocktail dress).

Love your blog. I've added you to my blogroll =)

  25. Ya, I've stayed away from leopard print and all sorts of animal prints because they look... old. But now that I'm turning 32, I will buy myself shoes in leopard and also tortoise shell. Still can't go near the zebra and the tiger, though!

  26. I have this gorgeous picture of Eva Mendes in a silk chiffon leopard-print '40s-style evening gown, and she looks amaaaaaaaazing! That's the image that really made me rethink leopard.

And D&G seem to be rockin' this print better than anyone else, this season! I'm really impressed.
