Recently savvy sister received a Louis Vuitton handbag charm as a gift. We scoffed at the gift until she attached the charm on a Monogram bag. The charm is truly charming on the casual tote. I don’t think the effect will be the same on a formal or structured handbag but the colorful charm is so cute against the Monogram backdrop. It’s is a bit pricey at $435 but I have my own alternatives. I used available jewel pieces to create a customize purse charm. Savvy sister giggled at my attempt because my DIY project cost more than her bag charm. Imagine if a piece falls off, I will cry like a baby. Perhaps this is not such a savvy idea. However, I found a Betsy Johnson charm necklace for $125 which will work like a charm as an alternative. Just loop the necklace around the hardware and adjust the length to your liking. It’s quite a fun adventure for me. What is your perfect handbag charm?

I like your DIY but isn't it cheaper to just buy the LV charm?

to be completely honest i dont think u have ever added a charm to my bags.
the only accessory i can think of is the lock on the dior bag.
i have added scarves before.
I never put charms on my bag. Somethimes I tie a scarf around one though.
ReplyDeletePurse charms are adorable . . . for me, a sassy scarf tied on the handle still does the trick.
ReplyDeleteAnd funny what you said on my Gilt post about feeling like the tin man - agreed that metallics must be used judiciously!!

Ahh it is pricey for me too! I need to DIY one for my mother! She love charms on her bags.
ReplyDeleteI really love charms on bags, but at this point financially couldn't imagine spending that much on one! Love your idea though, very creative :)

ReplyDeleteI have a LV Charm that I put on my mini lin speedy. it adds just the right dimension to the bag. But other than, I don't put charms on any other bags.
I like your DIY idea with the necklace. Cheaper than the LV for sure. Except with your Bvlgari, that would be sad if something happened to it! :)
hm that's interesting, very creative!
ReplyDeleteI'd probably go for a more beaded and wooden charm to go with my purse of choice, but that's me!
Charms look fab.

I've never put a necklace on a bag. However, I must confess that often my cheer ribbons find their way onto my school tote bags!
