When Is It Too Much?
I love bags like any other gals out there and am quite willing to drop some gold coins for a bag that I just have to take home with me. When savvy sister received a fuchsia ostrich Hermes Kelly, I thought it was really nice and a classic piece so the price point could be somewhat excused. When another savvy family member purchased another Hermes Birkin in exotic skin, I thought wow, cool! I wish I can talk myself into buying an exotic, but the "responsible" me manages to stop "shopping" me without fail . When I saw this Gucci Crocodile medium tote, which is part of the Hysteria collection, I was flabbergasted at the price ~ a whopping $37,500. I had a discussion with my SA at Chanel and she was surprised Gucci could command this price when a large classic Chanel flap in the same material retails for $26,000 and a lizard Birkin 25 cm is around $13,000, if a gal can get her hand on one. (Yes, I am being a brand snob now!)Are all the design houses trying to outdo each other with exotic skins and testing consumers' ability and willingness to hand over piles of gold coins to satisfy the need to have the IT bag? I am still asking "Gucci can command this price?" So what is the most you are willing to pay for a handbag, exotic or otherwise?
