Bubble Dresses: Am I going to look like a bubble?

I have noticed an insurgence of bubble dresses this season and I don’t feel very excited about this particular silhouette. I don’t know of many gals who can carry bubble dresses off gracefully without looking wide at the hip or pregnant, unless she is literally a twig. My savvy sister actually was able to wear this type of dresses throughout her pregnancy, one size up from her normal size. Looking at these models in the pictures, they are tall twigs and I think they look sort of big already so how might this translate us normal gals with normal height and weight.

Theory $295
I have seen maternity dresses with similar silhouettes. I am not a big gal; in fact many would agree I am a very slender and petite individual. BUT, when I tried a bubble dress at Neiman Marcus I wanted to cry and shave few pounds off with a cleaver. I totally regretted that piece of chocolate I ate earlier during the day.

An actual maternity dress

However, I have noticed there are some bubble dresses with less of a “bubble” effect so I might consider the less voluminous style bubble dresses. I think they are quite fun and chic for this coming summer. I got a less voluminous bubble skirt from Lacoste last year and gotten many compliments.

I don't want to look like a bubble either! I think you're right about the last one being a bit more wearable.

I LOVE the shape of the blue Theory dress! It's less bubblicious, so I think it's more feasible for a "savvy gal" to pull off.

If not that, go for high waisted full skirts...they are so flattering and girlie (I've already purchased three in the last few months)!

P.S. Thanks for all your comments! I wish I could keep up with you! :)

Yes, I was quite devastated when I tried the dress on, like the time I tried on white terry cloth pants from Juicy and insulted myself. : )
